The Porsche Taycan Turbo S is currently one of the most electrifying cars on the market. From it's debut, it has been compared to the Tesla Model S, especially the latest Performance version with Cheetah stance. Since carmaker' claimed numbers are just numbers until proven in the real world, DragTimes raced a Taycan Turbo S and a Model S Performance with Cheetah stance at a real drag strip.

Tale Of The Tape: Porsche Vs Tesla EVs

For the sake of comparison, here are the rivals' claimed performance numbers. The Porsche Taycan Turbo S comes with two permanent magnet motors delivering 750 hp of max output and 774 lb-ft (1,050 Nm) of instant torque through a two-speed transmission. Weighing in at 5,300 lb, the Taycan Turbo S can sprint from zero to 62 mph in 2.8 seconds.

In the opposite corner, the Model S Performance with Cheetah Stance sits on top of the Model S food chain with a dual-motor setup providing 825 hp and 958 lb-ft of instant torque to all wheels via a single-speed gearbox. As claimed, a 4,900-lb Model S can sprint from nil to 60 mph in 2.3 seconds and to a quarter mile in 10.4 seconds.

Another Drag Race, Same Electrifying Results

Prior to this matchup, the Porsche Taycan Turbo S and Tesla Model S Performance with Cheetah Stance competed for the most annoying model name and the results are still being tabulated.  They also engaged in drag and rolling races organized by Carwow, whereupon the Porsche won all contests although the Tesla managed to put up a good fight. DragTimes is doing a similar drag race, but the difference is that the quarter-mile times are officially recorded. After all, DragTimes is a company that logs these records through submitted time slips.
