As the listing states, this car was Ferrari’s last dual-purpose grand touring model and the most potent and highly developed version of the 275 series. This particular 275 GTB/4 was initially bought by Giuseppe Pagni, an ex-AC Milan and Fanfulla footballer, who was living in Milan. The car had a replacement engine fitted during Pagni’s ownership, and this got installed in the car in the late 1960s. Sold in 1987 to long-time collector Albert Guggisberg after a period of time in the USA, the car moved to Switzerland before transferring into the hands of Gaspare Barresi. It was then in the UK in 2011 returning to the United States in 2022.

A Truly Beautiful Ferrari

This has to be one of Ferrari’s most beautiful cars. The engine under the hood is that late 1960s replacement 3,286 cc four-cam V12 engine, which it's believed is one of just two spare engines Ferrari produced at the factory. The engine has six Weber carburetors and the power is all handled with a five-speed manual transmission. Braking power comes from the Ferrari’s front and rear disc brakes, and we hear that V12 engine through an Ansa exhaust. The car was Ferrari Classiche certified in 2013, and the car does indeed come with a certification red book.

The Ferrari underwent a full restoration in the hands of Barresi in 2002, when he sent the car to SD Autocostruzioni in Turin, Italy. The interior is Bordeaux leather and this was all done in 2011 by Tappezzeria Fratelli in Modena, and as you might expect there is a stunning wood-rimmed steering wheel inside the car.

Mecum state that this car is incredibly rare and desirable, as well as being a pristine example of the ultimate 275 GTB evolution. It is an outstanding classic Ferrari, and it sounds like it will fetch a lot of money at the Glendale 2022 auction from March 16-19, 2022.
