The fact this Cobra has racing pedigree is a bit of a coup. As the listing states, this car was a class winner at the 1966 12 Hours of Sebring and is one of just 23 factory competition Cobras.

The car has had Bob Grossman and Ed Lowther behind the wheel, and it was also a track record holder at Watkins Glen back in 1966. Plus, the car has also raced at Lime Rock and Bridgehampton circuits. Under the hood is a 427 ci 500 hp V8 engine, and transmission wise the Cobra has a four-speed manual.

This incredible car is lucky enough to have had a full restoration. This was all carried out by noted Shelby experts Mike McCluskey and Billy Andrews, who have brought this car right back to its full racing glory.

The exterior is in Silver Mink with red, white, and blue racing stripes and the No.6 livery. This is the livery the car had in its Sebring winning race. Since the restoration the car has run at several historic events such as the Monterey Historics of 1995 and 1997 plus the Los Angeles Vintage Grand Prix of 1997.

Despite its racing history, this Cobra has very few miles on the clock. The Mecum listing says it has just 8,299 miles on it, which is remarkably low. As well as this, various components are rebuilt to ensure it is in tip-top condition. This includes the carburetor, the new fuel cell and the fuel cell bladder.

Inside is a black leather interior which was also superbly restored, and the original mag wheels and Goodyear Blue Streak tires are also included with the auction. A letter from HRE President William H. Andrews confirms that this car is chassis number CSX3016.
