Crashing your car is never good. I mean, there is of course your own health to think of first. Then there is what damage you might have done to your car, making sure you yourself are alright. Writing off your car is better than the worst-case but it will never be a cheap job. So how then how do we think rally driver José Suarez is feeling right now? Because, not only has he crashed his car…but his car was a Ferrari F8 Tributo, one that would have cost around 264,000 euros (over $320,000) when it was brand new! This story comes thanks to Marseille News.

An Impressive Machine

The F8 Tributo is one of Maranello’s most impressive modern machines, with carbon-ceramic brakes providing unrivaled stopping power and plenty of power from its 3.9-liter V8 engine. The power output of the Tributo is around 710 hp and 770 Nm of torque, and it is currently the most powerful conventional V8-powered Ferrari the company has built to date. This one though? Well, it seems likes its days of tearing up the mountain roads are over.

What happened then? Well, it appears that this car was actually lent to him by his sponsors, which I’m not sure if this makes it better or not, as it wasn’t even his car! Despite being able to brake in distances of just 40 meters, that did not stop Suarez from hitting an Opel Corsa on a road that took him from Pravia to Soto del Barco, near La Imera. Thankfully, no one was seriously hurt in the accident and they were able to walk away, it was just the cars that took a hit.

The Opel Driver

The driver of the Opel was able to give quite a good account of what happened. He was trying to avoid the Ferrari that simply had not seen the Opel and there was nothing the driver could do to avoid the Tributo. Thus, the smash took place. The area the accident took place reportedly sees a lot of accidents, due to being a bit of a blind spot. That would potentially see the accident be seen as no fault of either party involved.
