Ram 1500 Rebel OTG Concept Aims To Be Your Ideal Overlanding Pickup

Mopar threw a two-inch lift kit on the Ram 1500 Rebel OTG, which now rides on beadlock wheels shod with 35-inch Goodyear MT/R Kevlar tires.

Mopar has always amazed us, especially when the SEMA Show is just around the corner. For the upcoming show in Las Vegas, Mopar tackles the rising movement called overlanding to create its latest concept -- the Ram 1500 Rebel OTG.

Basically a cross between off-roading and camping, overlanding requires a specialized vehicle that can go off the grid, while carrying stuff that adventurers need. Slated to be unveiled at the 2019 SEMA Show, the Ram 1500 Rebel OTG (Off The Grid) concept promises to be the right partner for overlanding adventurers.

To create the Ram 1500 Rebel OTG, Mopar partnered with leading outdoor equipment suppliers. The team started off with a new 2020 Ram 1500 Rebel powered by the new 3.0-liter turbocharged V-6 EcoDiesel engine, which can deliver up to 260 hp of output and 480 lb.-ft. of torque. While a Ram 1500 Rebel has a fuel tank that can carry up to 26 gallons, the OTG version can go much farther. That's because this already plentiful fuel tank has been swapped with one that can carry up to 33 gallons of diesel.

Moreover, Mopar threw a two-inch lift kit on the Ram 1500 Rebel OTG, which now rides on beadlock wheels shod with 35-inch Goodyear MT/R Kevlar tires. Now, that should make the concept more capable and more durable off the road, with additional protection provided by front and rear-wheel flares as well as step assist rock rails.

Wrapped in Mojave Sand exterior finish, the Ram 1500 Rebel OTG boasts a new front bumper with integrated winch, as complemented by a larger and wider grille. The overlanding concept also features a functional snorkel air intake. On the rear, the Ram 1500 Rebel OTG comes with a rear bumper found on the Ram 1500 Tradesman.

Of course, the Ram 1500 Rebel OTG can only be your perfect overlanding vehicle if it has the right outdoor equipment and accessories. For instance, the top of the truck bed has been fitted with a bed rack system that carries a collapsible rooftop tent. A rack structure is also mounted above the cab for extra storage space.

The truck bed of the Ram 1500 Rebel OTG accommodates a retractable battery-powered cooler as well as a kitchen unit with a gas-powered stove. The overlanding concept even features a sink with an on-board water system. The concept also has a solar panel package and on-board air compressor.

Aside from the integrated front-bumper winch, the Ram 1500 Rebel OTG is provided with traction mats and a high-lift jack. For lighting needs, the OTG Concept features LED off-road driving lamps on the front bumper, LED backup lamps on the rear bumper as well as task lighting on the rear rack system.
