Ram just might be getting a fancy tailgate of their own to take on the GMC Sierra’s MultiPro tailgate.

Companies throwing shade is always a fun time had by all. Last week, GMC taunted Ram by posting a brief ad for their MultiPro tailgate, the one that has six different configurable positions depending on the job at hand. It can morph into a workbench, a set of steps, or it could just open partially to allow more space for oversize payloads.

GMC’s Twitter post began by saying "The Rams already lost,” in this case a clever dig at Ram and not the Los Angeles Rams that actually played on Super Bowl Sunday (and coincidentally did lose, or so we’re told). It then showed the GMC Sierra in its various states of MultiPro configuration.

Rather than take the shade lying down, Ram actually responded with an intriguing clap back. "Flag on the play. False start,” the truckmaker wrote. “Check back with us on 2/7/19."

February seventh, huh? Could it be that we’re about to see a Ram version of the MutliPro tailgate come out this Thursday?

As Autoblog points out, Ram did have a patented tailgate of their own from way back in 2014. Rather than get folded into various geometric shapes, Ram’s tailgate had a seam down the middle that allowed it to open like a regular tailgate or open like a door. It could also have both individual halves fold down or swing open depending on the needs of the driver.

It could also be opened electronically with a touchpad, which is sort of neat.

We’ve gotta say, it doesn’t seem as useful as the MutliPro, but it’s at least something to fend off an aggressive GMC Twitter account. Especially when GMC has responses like this one.
