The first test mule of the upcoming Ram Rebel TRX has been spotted in the wild.
We first heard about the Ram Rebel TRX when FCA unveiled the concept way back in the heady days of 2018. Back then, we saw a jacked-up Ram 1500 Rebel with beefy suspension, chunky tires, and the 6.2-L supercharged HEMI V8 straight out of a Dodge Hellcat. It was a glorious site and easily worthy of competing against the vaunted Ford Raptor.
Ram promised us that the Rebel TRX would one day hit dealers, and it looks like that day is fast approaching. Spotted running around in Michigan is what is believed to be the first test mule of the Rebel TRX.
You’ll have to go over to one of the myriad sites that have these photos to see what it looks like in the flesh. Suffice to say, if you’re imagining a Ram 1500 Rebel with a suspension lift, bigger tires, and a bulging hood, you’ve basically got the right idea.
According to Motor1, the new Rebel will come in two flavors: Rebel TR and TRX. The TR will come with a brand new, never-before-seen 7.0-L V8 codenamed “Banshee” which will produce 520 hp and 525 lb-ft of torque. The TRX gets the beloved 6.2-L supercharged HEMI V8 straight out of a Hellcat and produces the same numbers, those being 707 hp and 650 lb-ft.
From what we can see, the Rebel TRX will enjoy many of the features shown in the concept, including a lifted suspension, chunky all-terrain tires, and front tow hooks. There are little plastic bits covering the suspension, but judging by the way they appear to be tacked on with a nail gun, those are probably temporary and just to keep prying eyes away from discovering what lies underneath.
We fully expect the TRX to come with some sort of fancy suspension to rival the Raptor’s FOX internal bypass shocks.
When the Rebel TRX will make its production debut is still a mystery, but we’ll hopefully see it take a bow before the end of the year.
