While precious foreign cars from Italian and German luxury brands are known for taking people's breaths way, Americans will always have a solid part of their hearts dedicated to pure American-born car brands like Ford, Lincoln, and Dodge. There may be some new names sprouting here and there, but most of the car brands we love have been in the auto-making scene for so long that it's hard to know when they exactly began.

General Motors alone is responsible for some of the biggest brands that helped shape the US automotive industry. Though we did miss out on a few foreign GM cars, we're still thankful that we got to enjoy some of the coolest muscle cars from Oldsmobile, Pontiac, and Marquette.

Until now, they still make some of the most dependable and most powerful cars in the country. To prove that GM is definitely one of the "Big Three" automakers in the US, here some of the fastest machines they contributed to the market.
