Everyone has noticed the rapid change in the auto world. No, not just the new sleek designs most can companies seem to be taking on or how the newest cars come with more apps than a smartphone. We're talking about their power. Most cars today have the same amount of horsepower as a sports car in the '90s. But then, there are those car companies that try and cling to the past. They try to keep to more simple builds, to more "get the job done without costing too much money" kinds of vehicles. These models are going to be our focus. The slowest of the slow. And these vehicles, while not necessarily being bad cars and trucks, are just too slow for our liking. Actually, most of the vehicles that we cover are rated as some of the best and most dependable cars and trucks on the market.

So, maybe there's something to that, but around here, we like a bit more bang for our buck. And by "bang," we, of course, mean power. So, in that spirit, we'll also look in on the fastest cars as of 2018. No doubt, the future will only be faster, but will the slower, more dependable, and cheaper rides still be there? Only time will really tell. We think they will, though, because you'll always need a cheap daily driver and a truck to pull your race car with.

20 Slowest: Hyundai Accent

via autoguide.com

Hyundai is known mostly for their family cars, but they also reach into luxury and sports cars. The Accent is pretty much just their lower-end family car, with simple, modern designs and just enough gadgets to satisfy the modern tech craze. It comes with a 1.6L 4-cylinder engine, giving it a 0-60 mph of 11.1 seconds. While this isn't winning any drag races or any races, it's affordable and comes with great consumer reviews. The gas mileage isn't anything to scoff at either. It pretty much meets all standards for a good family car; just don't count on getting anywhere too quickly.

19 Slowest: Toyota Prius

via wikipedia.com

Obviously, the Prius isn't fast. It's the most famous and popular electric car in the world, with record-setting sales numbers and consumer reviews. However, the Prius isn't the slowest car in 2018. That's right—while it's certainly not fast—like at all—it runs 0-60 mph in 10 seconds. That's not so good, obviously, but it's not the worst by today's standards. And considering it does it all with that electric motor, it's impressive in its own little way. The Prius has certainly made a name for itself, even with those sad acceleration times.

18 Slowest: Ford Transit 350HD

via YouTube

So, of course, there was going to be some huge van or truck. Well, the Ford Transit 350HD is exactly what it looks like. It's very big, very heavy, and not very fast. Of course, it's used mostly as a utility van and doesn't really need to go fast, but the option would be nice.

The 350HD can go from a standstill to 60 mph in a very boring 12.5 seconds.

This is, by far, the slowest production car in 2018. There are cars that can run a 1/4 mile in that time straight out of the factory.

17 Slowest: Chevy Colorado

via caranddriver.com

Chevrolet, I know for their trucks mostly, but they've more recently broken into the family sedan and crossover market. They do still focus on their original bestseller, their trucks. The Colorado is their smaller truck and a cheaper alternative to the larger series. It also comes with less cool stuff, but more importantly, it comes with less power. The Colorado runs 0-60 mph in 9.3 seconds, which is to be expected when you run a mid-size truck on a 4-cylinder engine. The Colorado is, despite its lack of power, widely raved about for its dependability and price.

16 Slowest: Toyota Yaris

via youtube.com

The Yaris is one of those Toyotas that not many people know about. It's one of their cheapest models available, and due to that, it's smaller than most of their models but not by much. It's also, as you may have guessed, pretty freaking slow.

The Yaris pulls a hefty 10.2-second 0-60 mph time, which isn't the slowest in the world, but it's close.

Literally, it's the fifth-slowest production car in the world in 2018. But again, it's technically not the slowest. It, too, has gotten good reviews, although a lot of people complained about a lack of tech in the car.

15 Slowest: Kia Soul EV

via caranddriver.com

The Kia Soul EV is one of those cars that chose style over functionality. The Soul EV is essentially a cube with an engine on the front, and combine the poor aero performance it has with the small power it produces, and you're looking at a 12-second 0-60 mph time.

The Soul EV is widely mentioned for its dependability and low price as well as its stylish, unique look.

It's also known for its stock sound system, which was the focus of their advertisements for a while and is apparently great.

14 Slowest: Honda HR-V

via motortrend.ca

The Honda HR-V is pretty much the CR-V with a facelift. The one thing the new HR-V has that's unique is its VTEC 4-cylinder engine. I guess instead of putting a bigger engine in to compensate for the added weight, they decided to just throw some VTEC at it. Well, while the car is widely acclaimed as one of the best cars of the year, it's only a few seconds ahead of a utility van in acceleration, with a 9.4-second 0-60 mph time. The HR-V does make up for it with its hip design and dependability, though.

13 Slowest: Mitsubishi Mirage

via autoweek.com

The Mitsubishi Mirage is a compact family car—if that makes any sense. The car is very small and has good gas mileage, but that's about it. There are some reviews, and most are pretty good, but overall, the Mirage seems to be just that—a mirage. Maybe it exists, but maybe not. I mean, have you seen one before? Anyway, this little car is also pretty slow with only 74 horsepower. We didn't even know they made cars with that little power anymore. The Mirage also has an 11.7-second 0-60 mph time, which isn't the worst we've seen, but it's pretty close.

12 Slowest: Chevy Trax AWD

Imagine the Chevy Equinox. Now, smush it just a little bit, and you have the Trax AWD. The Trax is an all-wheel-drive crossover, which is becoming more popular due to its increased safety. The Trax has gotten great consumer reviews, including good dependability, good driveability, and a decent price. While power isn't really important to a lot of people or what these vehicles are meant for, we still have to notice that it has a 9.7-second 0-60 mph time. For such a modern car—and an AWD one at that—that power leaves a lot to be desired.

11 Slowest: Nissan Versa Note

via motor1.com

The Note is the newest model of the Versa, and it comes with all the toys and gizmos that you expect in a Nissan. However, like most low-end Nissan models, there's not a lot of power under the hood.

The Versa Note runs a 10.3-second 0-60 mph time, which is to be expected when the car costs just over 15 thousand dollars brand new.

The Versa Note has been well received on all other fronts, though, with consumer reviews raving mostly about its low price, dependability, and safety. Of course, you feel safe in a car that slow.

10 Fastest: Bugatti Grand Sport Vitesse La Finale

via autogespot.com

So, with that many words in the name, you have to assume it must be a special car. Well, the La Finale sure is special. It has a giant 8.0L W16 engine pushing out a staggering 1,183 horsepower. It has almost an equal amount of torque and was, for a time, the fastest street-legal car in the world. The design could've had a bit more detail, but Bugatti focuses more on what's under the hood with their special edition cars, which we can certainly appreciate.

9 Fastest: Hennessey Venom F5

via motor1.com

The Venom F5 is being designed and tested and is set to release towards the end of 2018. However, the projections they're posting are out of this world. The Venom F5 will be able to run a 2-second 0-60 mph time and have a top speed of 301 mph. The Venom GT is still among one of the fastest cars in the world, but the F5 is clearly plotting to take the GT's legacy and write one of its own. Of course, it also has the same aggressive look and stance that we've all come to know and love.

8 Fastest: Pagani Huayra Roadster

via carbuzz.com

The Huayra has long been known as one of those cars that were built just for the sole purpose of saying they built such a fast car. Well, the Roadster is even faster. It comes packing a ferocious twin-turbo 6L V12 engine producing a mighty 730hp. It has a top speed of 230 mph, and it'll get there very quickly. It shares the look of its base model, which we don't seem to hear lots of complaining about. The car essentially looks like a rocket ship, and how can you not love that?

7 Fastest: Zenvo TS1 GT

via motor1.com

The Zenvo is one of the most unique supercars around. It has a super sleek design that's somewhere in between a Lamborghini and a Lykan.

The car is gorgeous, sure, but how does it perform? Well, it runs a 3-second 0-60 mph time with its massive 6.8L V8, which shoots 1,104 horsepower to the wheels.

The real kicker is how fast it can go from 0-200 mph, which only takes the TS1 GT 8.9 seconds to do. This car is truly a piece of art, and this particular piece will stomp almost any car you throw at it.

6 Fastest: Hennessey Venom GT

visa autoweek.com

That's right—the Venom GT also made it onto the top ten fastest cars list, with its brother model, the F5. Hennessey obviously knows what they're doing when it comes to fast cars, and they don't want anyone else to have that title as the fastest production car in the world. The Venom GT looks almost identical to the F5, with just a few minor details and a little less tech being the main difference, aside from the power. The GT has a 7.0L twin-turbo V8 and produces a staggering 1,244 horsepower, which gives it a very impressive 2.8-second 0-60 mph time and a 14.5-second 0-200 mph time.

5 Fastest: Koenigsegg Regera

via youtube.com

The Koenigsegg Regera is truly one of a kind. It's beyond powerful; has a sleek, unique design that builds on previous designs; and has one gear. That's right—there's only one gear in this car. That means 1,790 horsepower is going through one gear. After about 60 mph, you really start to notice a difference.

The Regera also has a crazy top speed of 255 mph, which it has no problem reaching.

Koenigseggs have been impressive since day one, but the engineering in this car is astounding, and we can't wait to see what's next for the brand.

4 Fastest: Lykan Fenyr SuperSport

via motor1.com

Lykan, of course, had to be a contender for the top ten fastest cars, and they didn't disappoint. The Fenyr SuperSport, besides being absolutely gorgeous, is also very aggressive with its 4.0L twin-turbo flat-6. Lykan managed to shove 900 horsepower in this little car, resulting in a 2.7-second 0-60 mph time and an insane top speed of 245 mph. The tech is the key to this car, and Lykan really knows what they're doing with it. We hope to see more from the company in the future, as everything they make seems to set new trends and break records.

3 Fastest: Koenigsegg Agera RS

via carbuzz.com

Koenigsegg is back at it again. One of the main goals they have is to make the fastest production car, and they've successfully done that a couple of times, and all the cars that broke the records are still among the fastest ten cars in the world. The Agera RS shares most of its styling with the base model but does pack more heat. In test runs, it ran 0-248 mph and back to 0 in 36.4 seconds. Koenigsegg focuses so much on the details under the hood, and they obviously make all the difference.

2 Fastest: Bugatti Chiron

via digitasltrends.com

The Bugatti Chiron caused a lot of hype before release, but sadly, a lot of people were disappointed. They mostly didn't care for the new design that didn't really change much from the Veyron. But no one complained about the power.

The Chiron has an insane 1,500 horsepower and a 271 mph top speed.

Of course, that power comes at a very hefty price of 2.6 million dollars, making it one of the most expensive production cars in the world. Of course, you can expect the Bugatti touch in it as well, with all the leather and tech you could need.

1 Fastest: Koenigsegg Agera One:1

via YouTube

The Agera One:1 was a project where they basically took the Agera R and took off any extra weight possible and then tinkered with the engine. The One:1 is amazing, with a 5.0L twin-turbo V8 engine that produces a wild 1,340 horsepower. It also manages to run from 0-60 mph in 2.8 seconds, which is very impressive for a car its size. While it's still very small, it's pretty big as far as hypercars go. But oh, how beautiful it is, and the interior looks just as futuristic as the car itself does.
