Finding a rare classic car in a field always brings mixed emotions. On the one hand, it's amazing to come across something that you perhaps never, ever get to see. On the other hand, these cars often deserve much better and to be fully restored. This car is one of those, and it’s a four-speed, four-door 1964 Plymouth Valiant V100 that YouTuber Steve Magnante has come across. This is a very rare car that 100% deserves better.

Details On The Abandoned Plymouth

The Valiant is at Winkel Auto Wrecking in Milford, New Hampshire. What makes it quite cool are the small bolt rally wheels, something that didn’t come along until Chrysler utilized them in 1970. Magnante points out that the little V emblem on the side shows that this car is from the first year of the 273 V8 small block engine. It provides around 180 hp in its first iteration, going up to 235 hp in 1965. It’s a great little engine, and Magnate points out there is no dipstick for an automatic transmission, meaning this Valiant is a manual.

Looking inside the interior, Magnate points out the gear-level and that this car has a Hurst shifter, and specifically the four-speed is the A833 transmission. This was also the first year of the A833 transmission, meaning it has two very special first year items on it and making it a bit of a sleeper. This all just adds to the special nature and rarity of this car. Magnante points out how you can tell a V8 powered car, by pointing out the trim tag. At the top of it is a V, indicating the car has a V8 engine.

A Truly Special Car That Deserves A Restoration

Magnante states that around 44,000 of these four-door Valiant V100s were built in 1964, and of that number around 20% were V8s and 5% were four-speed cars. This just highlights how rare this car actually is. At the time, Plymouth and Dodge were keen on making as much money as possible on options, and that means paying extra for the rear arm-rests, something this car does not have. And sadly looking in the back there is no floor in this car. You can get reproduction floors, though, and this rare Valiant is just begging to be fully restored.
