Although 1989 was an important year in all aspects, the fall of the Berlin Wall was by far the most important. The unification of both sides of Germany created a slew of new opportunities, spawning new ideas and technologies. While history tends to revisit all the socio-political happenings caused by the fall of the Berlin Wall, car enthusiasts like us celebrate the birth of Mansory Design and Holding GmbH.

From having the best carmakers to having the world’s most talented car tuners, Germany is a heaven for car lovers and thrives on lofty car culture. If stock luxury cars fail to enwrap you in the deluxe atmosphere of your choice or if sports cars or supercars aren't fast enough to give you a decent dose of adrenaline, German car tuners are there for you.

Each car tuner, however, has its style and method of adorning a vehicle. And Mansory is one of the best players in the game. Founded officially in 1989 by an Iranian car enthusiast, Kourosh Mansory is a man with great taste in cars. And it's conspicuous if you look at the type of modified luxury or sports car Mansory has to offer.

From showcasing flawless artistry in a Roll-Royce Cullinan to a carbon fiber-loaded Bugatti Veyron, Mansory is bonkers when it comes to distinctive design and providing mansion-type luxury. Kourosh Mansory, the founder of Mansory Design and Holding GmbH, has always had a passion for cars, and having seen classic cars since childhood, his love for cars grew with age. He belonged to a wealthy Iranian business family and was sent to an English boarding school in the 1970s. After his schooling, he moved to Germany, where he learned German at the Goethe Institute in Munich and worked as a café server.

Post-study, he returned to England and again fell in love after seeing English luxury cars like Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Jaguar, and Aston Martin. When he returned to Germany, he discovered that automotive businesses were more profitable than hotel businesses, which he had planned to open. Kourosh’s inspiration struck after he saw Mercedes-AMG cars, which to date are loved for the right mix of luxury and sportiness.

He began by selling his W123 with extra accessories like a wooden steering wheel, redesigned leather seats from another car, and a set of aftermarket wheels to create a unique Mercedes-Benz W123 priced at a higher price. And, because it brought him huge profits and, most importantly, because he was doing something he had loved his entire life, this quickly became a full-time occupation.

All this continued on a relatively small scale until 1989 when he finally decided to officially open Mansory Design & Holdings GmbH. He started making accessories with the name "MANSORY," and in no time, the handcrafted, distinct-looking parts found their way to the pinnacle of the market. Following this, Mansory started making their upholstery, and everything was manufactured in-house.

However, with more orders and larger production lines, Mansory needed a bigger place, and in 1999, they shifted their business to Munich, becoming a Munich-based luxury car tuning company in the next two years. Since then, Mansory has earned its name in the luxury car-tuning industry not only in Germany but all over the world, making them on par with older companies like Alpina, Brabus, RUF, and others.

As stated by Mansory in an advertisement, they have been modifying cars and motorcycles since 1989. Presently, their factory is situated in Fichtelgebirge, a town located in the northeastern part of Bavaria bordering the Czech Republic. Mansory is presently headquartered in a former shoe factory with a workforce of 250 people.

The factory uses advanced technologies in making handcrafted parts, including a specialized autoclave oven for carbon fiber pieces and other specialized equipment for tailoring the bespoke parts. They also have a saddlery in Mannheim where they handcraft genuine, grain, and man-made leather.

First, they scan the bodywork of a car and make a 3D model of the vehicle. The scanning and modeling process takes about 1-2 days, depending on the level of customization. Then they are shown to the client, and accordingly, adjustments and customizations are made before the onset of manufacturing. Then the car is fully dismantled, and the parts are once again 3D modeled for the perfect fit and finish.

Then, the required parts are crafted using carbon fiber and given shape, followed by upholstery work and another interior crafting. In an interview, they revealed that they also let customers paint their cars any color they want and that they also tune the performance of the cars if asked to do so. With their fabulous crafting techniques and meticulous engineering, Mansory takes already-premium cars to an insane level.
