After a three-decade hiatus, Chrysler is finally bringing back the Jeep Wagoneer in 2021 for the 2022 model year. The all-new Wagoneer, bigger and better, was first shown in 2020 as a concept, and later as a production model in March 2021. Built to challenge the likes of the Nissan Armada, the Chevrolet Tahoe, and the Ford Expedition, the Wagoneer is a well-equipped full-size SUV. Power for the large Wagoneer comes from a muscular 392 hp 5.7-liter V8 powerplant assisted by a 48-volt mild-hybrid system.
Delivering 404 lb-ft of twist through an eight-speed automatic transmission it gives the Wagoneer a best-in-class towing capacity. In addition to a luxurious interior that is filled with the latest infotainment features, the revived Wagoneer also boasts cutting-edge driver-assist tech. Despite being a body-on-frame SUV, it gives a gentle ride, and when the Wagoneer is compared with rivals, we consider it the best full-size SUV on the market.
10 Class-Topping Towing Capacity
In addition to providing adequate passenger and cargo space, the new Wagoneer also provides power to tow your camper or boat. In a show of strength, the Jeep Wagoneer leaves other full-sized SUVs trailing with a maximum towing capacity of 10,000 pounds when properly equipped.
The Wagoneer offers 1,500 lbs more than the Nissan Armada, and 700 lbs more than Ford's Expedition. So, whether it's a weekend of hunting or a fishing vacation by the lake, the Jeep Wagoneer ensures that none of your favorite toys is left behind.
9 Smart Parking
While finding a parking space for a vehicle as large as the Wagoneer is sometimes hard, maneuvering it into a tight space can be frustrating. That is why the new Jeep Wagoneer comes with an autopilot system that assists in helping you to park after locating an available parking spot.
In the absence of heavy rain or snow, the system scans for space, provides instructions, and controls the steering wheel to assist you in parking. All you need to do is press a button, and the system will kick in and help you take care of business.
8 Hands-Free Power Liftgate
For those times when you've got both hands full, the Wagoneer has the perfect solution for opening the liftgate without stress. The hands-free power liftgate allows you to open the liftgate by simply moving your foot under the rear license plate.
It only works when the transmission is in the park position, and the key fob is within one and a half meters from the vehicle. To close the liftgate without your hands, repeat the same motion with your foot, and it'll close after about three seconds.
7 Refined Interior
The 2022 Jeep Wagoneer is worth its price tag, and the luxurious interior proves that. The deluxe cabin provides comfortable accommodation for eight persons or seven if you opt for captain's chairs with a center console in the second row. Tastefully designed, it features items like leather upholstery, heated and power seats, tri-zone automatic climate control, and ambient interior lighting.
Also on the menu is a heated steering wheel, a panoramic sunroof, and a heads-up display that projects information directly on the inside of the windshield. For luggage storage, the Wagoneer has a lighted cargo area with a decent capacity that can be expanded.
6 Uconnect 5 Infotainment System
The new infotainment system runs on a powerful Android operating system that is fast and offers an impressive lineup of features. You can create up to five different driver profiles, each with its preferred temperature setting, seating position, music, and lots more.
Apart from the built-in TomTom navigation system that delivers real-time traffic updates, it also offers Bluetooth connectivity for two smartphones simultaneously. Unlike the GMC Yukon and the Chevrolet Tahoe, the Wagoneer has an optional screen for the front passenger and two for the rear seats.
5 Well-Balanced Warranty
Jeep's attractive warranty package for owners of the all-new Jeep Wagoneer covers a variety of areas and is better than what the competition offers. In addition to the basic warranty of three years or thirty-six thousand miles, a five-year/unlimited miles corrosion perforation coverage is given.
Powertrain components are covered for five years or sixty thousand miles, and roadside assistance is provided for the same duration or distance. While the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe and the 2021 GMC Yukon offer one-year free maintenance, the Wagoneer offers three years of complimentary scheduled maintenance.
4 Adaptive Air Suspension
One of the optional features in the Jeep Wagoneer is the Quadra-Lift Air Suspension system that raises or lowers the ride height as desired. A lower ride height makes ingress and egress easier, helps in loading and unloading cargo, and improves overall ride quality and fuel efficiency.
Although the Jeep Wagoneer is not the most capable off-road SUV, the air suspension can improve its ability to negotiate unfriendly terrain. If you ever get stuck in a tricky situation, you can increase the ground clearance by up to 3.6 inches at the touch of a button.
3 Valet Function
Although getting valet services can save you the stress of looking for available parking space, it has certain disadvantages that can't be overlooked. Each time you hand your key over to a valet, you stand the risk of filtering or outright theft.
However, you can guard against this by putting the Wagoneer in valet mode, which you can configure as one of the driver profiles in the Uconnect 5 system. It helps you determine what car functions, apart from start and stop, valets can access.
2 Sentry Key Engine Immobilizer
To save owners from the tragedy of getting their premium SUV stolen, the Wagoneer comes with a Sentry Key Engine Immobilizer. The system works automatically to disable the engine after two seconds if an unauthorized key is used to start the vehicle.
Since the system is programmed to work automatically, it doesn't need to be activated before it works - it even works whether the doors are locked or unlocked. You can now rest assured that your Jeep Wagoneer is as safe as safe can be.
1 Remote Keyless Entry/Proximity Key
The remote keyless entry is a system that allows you to lock and unlock your vehicle from a distance of up to 66 feet. You can also use the function to unlock the vehicle without bringing out the key fob from your pocket. When you stand for a few seconds by the door, the key transmits radio frequency signals to the car to get the car unlocked.
Once inside, you can then use the push button to start the vehicle when the ignition system identifies the key fob.
