If the Toyota Tundra pickup truck were a human, it would be a raging teenager. Yes! It’s been exactly fifteen years since the Tundra was introduced at the 2006 Chicago Auto Show. It’s still not the most impressive selling one of the most competitive automotive segments in the American market. You’ll still find the 2008 models parked on dealer lots—No takers! However, Toyota is releasing a new generation of the Tundra, and it’s going to be huge!

On Tuesday, the Japanese auto giant, through its Twitter handle, released a teaser of a redesigned Tundra, confirming the arrival of the 2022 model full-size pick-up truck.

Redesigned Toyota Tundra to compete against Ram and Ford

The teaser showcases a tougher Tundra, with a few elements inspired by the recent update on the mid-sized Hilux pickup truck that sells overseas. The new agile Tundra will be larger. The teaser picture reveals marker lights on the grille and flanks, a requirement in the United States for wider frame trucks.

The current Tundra has a span of 79.9 inches, and based on the lights, its fans could be looking at an upgraded version of the much-loved Tundra TDR pro, but this time, with more guts to face hard hitters in this segment, Ford and Ram.

While it's expected it will come with a V8, rumors suggest the new Tundra will be packing a turbocharged V6 with a Hybrid option. Either way, we will still need to wait for the full update from Toyota to get the official details.
