Mercedes-Benz has not yet produced a rear-mid-engine car that can rival some of today's supercars. They have machines that are close, mainly the GT Black Series, but there is no full-on, dedicated supercar. So we can only imagine what might well happen should Mercedes – the current kings of Formula 1 – create such a machine. Well, we don’t have to fully use our imaginations anymore. Digital artist Rain Prisk has given rendering one a go, and this is the beauty that he's created.

The Shape And Design

When you first look at it, you can see some Mercedes-AMG traits in the shape and overall look. It's not too dissimilar to the Mercedes Project One, which is to have electric motors and an internal combustion engine. The car has what you would call typical styling for a rear-mid-engine machine. In fact, if we want to look at possible sources of inspiration for this machine, why not look at the Jaguar XJ220? The car does give off serious vibes of that nature.

What could power this car? Well, given that we seem to be in the era of hybrids and there is even an electric Audi R8 out there, you would probably see a similar style power-train to that of the Mercedes Project One. The one thing that is quite interesting in this render are those thin headlights. I have never seen lights as thin as that before. A Mercedes-AMG supercar would surely sell very well, given the brand's reputation and how popular the Black Series cars are.

Will It Ever Happen?

Will they ever build one? Who knows. The brand seems very focused on expanding its electric lineups and making sure the AMG One is done to the best standard possible. Oh, that car has the road version of the 1.6-liter V6 that powers the brand's own and its customers' Formula 1 cars. Expect upwards of 1,000bhp from that monster.
