Do not adjust your web browser. What you’re looking at is a Pagani Zonda R in someone’s living room.

Let’s hope that’s not a load-bearing Zonda.

Gearheads are a strange breed. Normally they’re limited to decorating the garage or basement with discarded turbochargers and the shattered remains of a rear spoiler. Perhaps a stolen street sign or two if they’re feeling classy. Few get the opportunity to store an entire hypercar as a living room centerpiece.

This particular car is certainly a conversation starter. There are only 15 examples of the $1.5 million Zonda R in the world. Powered by a 6.0-L Mercedes-sourced V12 engine, the Zonda R can go from zero to sixty in just 2.7 seconds on its way to a top speed of 218 mph. Power is measured at 740 hp and 538 lb-ft.

Those figures are only accurate when it’s standing on all four wheels. On its side, it’s essentially a glorified V12-powered paperweight.

So why did Argentine race car driver Pablo Pérez Companc decide to use his $1.5 million Zonda as a wall in his $8 million condo? The good news is that he didn’t--this is just a replica.

"I would never condemn Black Minion to being locked in a living room,” he said in a recent Instagram post. “Race cars are for driving 😈🌚."

What you’re looking at is actually a carbon copy of his Zonda R minus the engine, chassis, fluids, windshield wipers, door handles, and a whole bunch of other stuff that a state doesn’t really need. If you look closely, you’ll also note that the Zonda doesn’t have any wheels. Hard to get around without those.

Curbed recently ran a piece that gave the origin story of this Zonda-turned wall. In order to get the Zonda up into Companc’s living room, he had to hire out a crane to bring it in through the balcony. Everything was done by Artefactor Home Staging, including the custom aluminum and carbon fiber bracket used to keep the shell in place.

Those materials were naturally chosen to match the styling of the car.

We can’t really fault Companc’s taste, but now he doesn’t have a wall between his bedroom and his living room. We’re also not sure what it’ll do for the condo’s value. There’s no getting that thing out of there without a lot of money.
