It’s been a hell of a year for Richard Rawlings and Gas Monkey Garage, according to his 2022 recap video just released on his YouTube channel. According to Rawlings, the business and its social media followings have grown immensely, as well as selling a record number of cars in one year.
This is mostly thanks to their huge auction that saw them sell off their entire collection, $1.1 million worth of cars, in just one afternoon. And of course, after clearing out their garage it was time to fill it with a whole new selection of classic cars.
Travelling The World And Breaking Records: Richard Rawlings And Gas Monkey Garage
First up was a landmark trip to the Isle of Man for the annual TT motorcycle race with Faye Ho and her team. He reveals that the trip was originally supposed to happen in 2020 but got delayed due to Covid. The team won every race with driver Peter Hickman and set almost every record.
If that wasn’t enough, the team went on to set the world’s fastest street-legal streetcar record at 310 mph with the 'Badd' Ford GT. Rawlings reveals that they’ve been trying to break this record for over seven years with Johnny and his team.
Finally, their new partnership with Gorilla Pro saw them build the ultimate service vehicle which was a hit at the bike rallies, and they completed 157 custom-builds in 2022. One of those was the big red bus which was a slow and painful process. The bus is now 98% complete and may actually be ready by the end of 2022.

Rawlings reveals that while they’re proud of the cars they’ve built, bought, and sold, and the world records they have set, the most rewarding part of it all has been the ability to change people’s lives for the better. Starting with the sweepstakes that saw them give away a brand-new RAM 1500 TRX, a pair of cars to a pair of friends, a cash prize of $200,000, and a Ford Mustang 'number 2' from The Thomas Crown Affair.
See What’s In Store For 2023 From Gas Monkey Garage
There will be a new Gas Monkey restaurant opening on March 1st, 2023, with two to three more coming later in the year in different locations, including Times Square and Vegas. The team are also giving away an incredible prize to one subscriber if they hit 1,000,000 million followers before New Year's Day.
