For many of us, having a large car collection is something we can only dream about. Some of us are lucky enough if we own one or even two cars. But can you imagine stumbling upon a collection of 35 + cars? Well, Richard Rawlings and Gas Monkey Garage did just that. They got a lead on a 35+ car collection in Knoxville, Tennessee, and found an amazing collection of classic cars, some of which had not seen the light of day in 40 years or more!

An Old-School Lead

The guy who gave Richard the lead was old school and didn’t do e-mails, so he actually mailed in the list for the lead. But after some negotiating, Richard was able to get a deal in place to go and check out this odd collection. And think about this: 40 cars in one go. How often does that happen, if at all? Taking a flight to Knoxville, Richard and the Gas Monkey crew went to check out the cars. And it really isn't often we come across crazy car collections like this.

And yes, there were at least 30 cars in this garage! Parked seemingly randomly, they included mostly Lincolns to Cadillacs and Chevrolets, mostly from the late 50s through the 70s.  There was also a Buick Special, although it was in pretty awful condition.  White seemed to be the collector's preferred color, though other colors appeared as well. One downside of all the cars though was their overall condition. Many of them suffered extensive mold and rust, but that was probably to be expected given they had not been stored in the best environment.

A Whole Host Of Classics

Lincolns were the preferred brand. Most were full-size Detroit iron, but there was also a two-door and four-door Corvair. The mystery collector didn't seem to care for Chrysler products.

One thing Richard commented on was the paint. The cars were effectively all in their original paintwork, and in some of the cars that had been covered by a dust sheet.  You could see all the imperfections as well, highlighting the technology available at the time to paint the cars.
