Richard Rawlings and the Gas Monkey Garage team have started 2023 with a bang. The head monkey and his team recently celebrated their 500th video on YouTube as Rawlings took on a 1966 Pontiac GTO resurrection. Plus, the team have hit the one million subscriber count on YouTube highlighting the popularity of everything Gas Monkey at the moment. Rawlings likes to do pretty much everything big, and that is certainly true of the next video that he and the team have posted onto YouTube.

Rawlings loves MOPAR. So when he had a tip off about a bunch of MOPARs that needed moving quite in Atlanta, he quickly organized a trip to go and take a look. These are part of the MOPARS 5150 collection, and the team there needs to move quickly and liquidate as they lost their lease. This means a lot of the cars need moving and some will get sold off to make the process easier. So that is exactly what Rawlings is here to do. He is here to get as many MOPARs as he can, and he comes across something very special indeed.

Moving A Huge Amount Of MOPARs To A New Home

The team is not too unhappy about the move, but they still have some 60 cars to move after originally having around 150 that they needed to get out of their collection. Rawlings is hoping he can get his hands on as many as possible and “steal” them as you might say. That certainly means he wants to cut as many deals as possible, and there is a lot that he wants. Cars such as a 1971 Dodge Demon with a 340 ci engine under the hood. Although someone did decide they wanted to rip the drivetrain out of it.

A convertible Camaro in the garage certainly needs a lot of love. Rawlings is rather amazed that some of the cars are even here for salvaging as they are quite far gone. But Mopars 5150 want to save as many as possible. One very special car in the collection is an alligator top 1970 Dodge Charger, with a 446 pack, and it is a four-speed SE car which makes it quite special. This isn’t a car that MOPARs 5150 really want to sell, but Rawlings certainly loves it.

A Warehouse Full Of Many Great MOPARs

One insanely rare car they find is a mod-top, a Plymouth Barracuda that is one of just 17 blue mod-top Barracudas made in 1970. That makes it an exceptionally rare car. The MOPARs 5150 team needed to do a bit of digging to find out what it was. After looking at the fender tag and seeing how rare the code was, the MOPARs 5150 team simply had to get their hands on this car. Only one car is actually known to exist, but it has not been fully seen in 30 years. That is one rare machine.

The team though stumble upon what might be the rarest car in the next part of the collection. It is a 1970 Road Runner with a 440 Super Track Pack on it that was originally in Hemi Orange. This car has all original body-panels, which surprises Rawlings. They really did not make many of these with maybe only around 200 of them made. The collection has a lot of incredible rare cars in it, and Rawlings is clearly blown away by just how many rare cars are here. He is clearly pondering as many of these cars as possible.

Rare MOPARs Make Up A Lot Of This Collection

Another insane car is a very cool Coronet Pertania car, one that is very cool and one that Rawlings might be taking home with him. It once had a small block in it and a transmission and was actually raced, and it's really taken Rawlings eye. Rawlings wants it as something pretty cool for the shop in Texas, and he is going to get his hands on it as art. After a fair bit of dealing, Rawlings gets his hands on the “Rum Runner” car for $7,000.

Rawlings is clearly happy with his purchase, so he definitely is not heading back to Gas Monkey Garage empty-handed. He is taking a couple of extra little goodies back too for display at his restaurants. All in all though, it looks like this has been one very successful trip for Rawlings and his team. Hopefully he will be posting onto YouTube what happens with the Rum Runner as we think that is going to look so cool at the garage. Plus, it has a bit of a story to tell which is also what attracted Rawlings to this cool little car.
