Richard Rawlings is one of the most charismatic personalities out there when it comes to the automotive YouTube world. Rawlings and Gas Monkey Garage are famous for some truly incredible builds, stretching back some 20 years or so to when Gas Monkey Garage started and of course to Rawlings time on Fast N’ Loud. Rawlings and the team have produced over 135 cars, in a period of eight years, and a lot of these cars were actually done incredibly fast.

Of course, with so many builds over the years, it makes us wonder which ones are Rawling’s favorites and which ones he ranks above others. Well, we don’t need to wonder anymore. In the latest video on the Gas Monkey Garage YouTube channel, Rawlings has sat down with a tier list and decided to rank the builds from Gas Monkey Garage from the ones he likes the least to the ones he loves the most, in an hour-long video that offers up plenty of entertainment, and of course who doesn’t love a good ranking video? Here are some of the highlights.

Getting Started On The Gas Monkey Rankings

Rawlings gives us a run-down of the categories on this list. We have “Holy Grail”, “Epic”, “Like but not love”, “Just Ehh” and finally “Burn it”. Those categories are relatively self-explanatory. The first car up is the 1931 Ford Model A, the first car they built on TV. Rawlings actually had just five days to get the place ready for the TV show, hence them buying this Model A from Oklahoma. Rawlings actually owns this car after selling it a couple of times, and he loves having it around the shop. While it is just a Model A, he puts it in the holy grail category as it is the car that started it all.

Moving on a little, we have the 1952 Ford Mainline Gasser “Monkey Business”. This is a car Rawlings said was “a piece of crap” when he got his hands on it, which is what inspired them to really go to town on it. Rawlings hated how it had no creature comforts on it, and he shoves this in the “Just ehh” category because even though it was a cool car, there just was not much to it.

Another car that heads into the “Holy Grail” category is a 1955 Ford Crown Vic, a car that Rawlings bought for his dad as one of these was his very first car. It was black and white like this one, and after its rebuild Rawlings loved it, and it goes right into the top category. We skip ahead a bit now, and we come to the 1971 Chevrolet Kingswood “Ugly Kid” station wagon. Rawlings loves this thing and thinks it epitomizes the cruiser of the day, a car that the team recently bought back and then sold, and Rawlings has shoved this one into the “Epic” category.

We are really rattling through the builds now, and we get onto the 1975 Datsun 280Z, the first build for the garage of a tuner car and Rawlings said the team loved building it, and it was a lot of fun. However, the story doesn’t end well as the truck taking the car to its new owner burned to the ground…along with some other cars. Rawlings puts it in the "Burn it" category, simply because it burnt to the ground. Pretty sad to see such a car get destroyed, but we know that these things sadly do happen.

A Real Fan Favorite From Gas Monkey Garage

Next up is a car that Rawlings knows is a fan favorite from the garage, and this is a epic and badass 1976 Chevrolet C10. The team wanted to put their spin on this pickup truck and after buying it from across the street they went crazy on it. Everything from the engine, to the interior, to the brakes. It was great, until it got hit on a test drive after it was actually sold. The truck has gone through a couple of hands, and is currently getting rebuilt and this ended up in the “Like but not love” category as it certainly cost Rawlings a lot!

There are over 130 builds to go through from Rawlings and the team, so we can’t list them all here, but the full video is hugely entertaining and well worth your time. One of the other cars Rawlings checks out on the list is the 1952 Chevy Fleetline we see just behind where he is sat, which is a car that everyone likes and the first car to come from Gas Monkey Garage. This, goes straight into the “Holy Grail” category. With so many cars to go through, be sure to watch the full video and find out what Rawlings thinks of every single Gas Monkey Garage build.
