Rimac is surely one of the most exciting car companies in the world at the moment. The electric vehicle producers, under Mate Rimac, have produced some utterly sensational cars recently. And now their latest creation, the Nevera, is undergoing a rigorous testing program. The company has uploaded onto a vide on their YouTube channel showing the car going through extreme winter testing, on ice, to fine-tune a lot of the car’s new systems and see how it copes in cold temperatures.

Important To Test An EV In The Cold

It is vital to test an EV in the cold. Temperature changes can really affect battery performance, efficiency and more. Even a hypercar with 1,914 hp such as the Nevera isn’t immune to that. The description of the video states that the car went to the Prielli Sottozero Center in the Arctic Circle in Sweden. This is where temperatures are at their most extreme, and thus it was the perfect place to see how the Nevera got on in some cold conditions. The video sees chief test driver Miroslav Zrncevic talk through driving the car in these freezing conditions.

Zrncevic says that the lowest temperatures they tested the car in were around 5 Fahrenheit, or -15 Celsius, in the day. So they switched to night running for even colder temperatures. Daniel Mateo, the vehicle test designer, says they had to prepare all of the car’s systems, like the power-train, cooling systems, etc, to be ready to work in super cold conditions so that the Rimac team could evaluate them and what the car was doing. Zrncevic goes on to say that the motivation in such conditions can get quite low, but it feels good when the team get the good results they need.

The images from the test are certainly dramatic, and chassis control team lead Ajinkya Krishnakumar has said the team are incredibly happy that the car is good to go in all kinds of conditions. The car looks incredible as it roars through the snow and ice, in a setting you simply would not expect to see an electric hypercar in. The Nevera is set to become one of the most impressive electric cars in the world. It will have a 0-62 time of just 1.97 seconds, and an utterly bewildering top speed of around 256 mph.
