The Jeep Wrangler has long been a favorite of off-roaders and weekend warriors alike with a reputation for durability and rugged good looks. The recent introduction of the JL-series Jeep brought some needed upgrades and refinements to a market space growing increasingly crowded with offerings from competitors.
The folks at Rocky Ridge Trucks put together a new edition called the Jeep Wrangler JL-X Package based on the JL series Wrangler. She's a purpose built off-roader with some serious hardware and a host of exterior and interior enhancements. Let's take a look.
3 Beep, Beep, I'm A Jeep
The X-package was designed by Rocky Ridge to broaden the off-road capabilities of the Wrangler without sacrificing on-road ride and performance. This is always a tough balance to strike on body-on-frame SUVs and pickup trucks due to the competing needs of each design profile. Plus, the new Wrangler is an excellent vehicle to start with so Rocky Ridge was very cautious and targeted in its approach.
2 The Mods
What did they do? They started with a modest 2.5 inch Rocky Ridge lift kit and suspension system, nitrogen charged shocks, progressive rate coil springs, front and rear sway bar links, and bump stops. Finishing it off are 18 inch Black Off-Road Wheels with 35 inch Mickey Thompson ATZ P3 tires, a 4-wheel alignment, road force balancing, Rocky Ridge caliper covers, and Hypertech tuning.
1 The Look
Rocky Ridge also enhances the look of the already slick Wrangler with a Ravager low profile front bumper, Fab Fours rear bumper, 10,000 lb. wireless winch, aluminum Fairlead, red D-rings, black ceramic exhaust tip, and more Rocky Ridge emblems than you can shake a stick at. Inside she comes with custom seats, embroidered badges, controllers, and a host of other options. Plus Rocky Ridge backs the X-Package with a 3 year / 36,000 mile warranty. Not bad at all.
