Both the Rolls-Royce Wraith and the Bentley Continental GT are on the higher plane of opulence, with prices already at six digits. In terms of power, the Wraith and the Continental GT are on par with each other. Which British luxury supercar would win if they engage in a quarter-mile drag race? The Rolls-Royce Wraith has already raced against a Chevrolet C8 Corvette, and it ended up in a big loss. The Bentley Continental GT, meanwhile, has conquered the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, but that wasn't a drag race. So, Mat Watson and Yianni picked their drives and hard against each other on the strip.
Yianni and his Wraith never had a chance against Watson and his Continental GT. The gap between the two protagonists pretty large, measured at around 1.4 seconds! Even when Daniel rode on the Continental GT to serve as a ballast and erasing the weight disparity, it wasn't enough for the Wraith to win the quarter-mile race.
Cumulative Little Advantages
What went wrong with the Rolls-Royce Wraith? Nothing. The Wraith is a dynamic drive powered by a potent 6.6-liter twin-turbo V12 engine. This mill is tuned to deliver 624 hp (632 PS) and 624 lb.-ft. of peak torque. Weighing 5,203 lbs (2,360 kg), it can roll from zero to 62 mph in 4.6 seconds and reach a top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h).
Actually, the Bentley Continental GT had little bit of advantage in the power numbers, delivering 626 hp (635 PS) and 663 lb.-ft. of max torque from its 6.0 liter W12 engine. However, the resulting performance is much better than the Wraith. The Bentley – weighing 4,947 lbs (2,244 kg) can zoom to 62 mph in 3.6 seconds and achieve a top speed of 207 mph.
Weighing The Winning Factors
When power-to-weight ratio is considered, then the lighter Continental GT comes out on top. Furthermore, each car is differently built to fulfill different purposes. Likewise, the Continental GT has all-wheel-drive and it comes with launch control, while the Wraith has only rear-wheel drive with no launch control.
