This year has seen Ford unveil quite an impressive line up of ponies. The had the Ford Bullit, Ford NASCAR Mustang, 2019 Ford Shelby GT Mustang, and to top it all up they celebrated the production of their ten millionth car in the storied line. It has indeed been a successful year so far for them.

The surprises just don't stop there, however. Rumor has it that there is a new Stallion in the pipeline. It is speculated that the production of the 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 is underway. But this might not be mere speculation and hearsay as a spec sheet of the car was leaked this month. The sheet shows that the GT500 Mustang will have a 5.2-liter supercharged V8 engine that will produce at least 720 horsepower at 650 pound-feet of torque.

The sheet answers many questions surrounding this pony, and these sentiments were echoed by the administrators of Mustang6g.com, who uncovered this little tidbit. However, the source of the sheet is still unclear as of now, the Mustang6g user who posted it is not an exceedingly active member on the forum.

One thing that many agree on is the powertrain and output specifications. If this Stallion is to battle it out with a rival is the 700 horsepower category the worthy opponent would be the mighty Dodge Challenger Hellcat. This is derived from the specs sheet if at all it is legit.

In the leak, it is alleged that the GT500 Mustang’s curb weight is 4, 225 pounds. That puts it in the Dodge Challenger's territory once again. If the GT500 is going to be produced under the same standards set by Ford on a standard Mustang GT, the curb weight slightly shifts to 3,800 pounds.

Ford is yet to confirm or deny if the information on the leaked spec sheet is true or not. They might not even give a response in regards to it just to keep their fans and customers anxious until they are ready to reveal it. This might just be the perfect dose of anxiety the doctor ordered.
