Switzerland went through a long period where it banned motorsport following the tragic Le Mans accident of the 1950s. But they are embracing racing and high-performance cars once again, and now a new showroom by a rather legendary coachbuilder has just opened up in the country. Ares Design, makers of their own high-performance S1 supercar, have just now opened a new showroom in the country, which they've called the ARESStMoritz Studio, the first boutique opened by the company in Switzerland.

Ares S1 Project Supercar

We'd be remiss if we didn't cover the centerpiece of the new Ares showroom, which is the Ares S1 Project supercar. It's a car that Ares claims is a simple yet challenging project that combines several ideas into one: the design of a hypercar, the performance of a supercar, and the accessibility of a sportscar. It was inspired by the design philosophy of the most iconic racing prototypes of the '70s and '80s and features incredible details inside and out.

The exterior, as Ares describes it itself, is mesmerizing. Created by Ares Design’s Centro Stile department, it used extensive CFD studies to try and get the very best aerodynamic optimization and performance. Every panel on this car has been hand-crafted to achieve the very best results, with a very dramatic shape that has an incredibly low drag to give it fantastic straight-line performance.

Inside the car, it is equally stunning while being relatively simple, thus creating a timeless interior. There are minimal lines to create a nice 3D effect, with a center console giving a nice, secure feel to the driver and passenger. The finest Alcantara and Napa leather will be used, and combined with carbon fiber paneling, creates a very luxurious feel.

The S1 is a stunner, but there was more on display in the showroom. In the boutique was a stunning Bentley Mulsanne, one of the most popular cars in the British company’s range. Ares added more of their own influence as well, with the frankly superb Land Rover Defender Spec 1.2 also on show to complement their bespoke S1 Project supercar. Ares also recently expanded into the world of Porsche 911 restomods. Finally, there's also the MW R NineT Retro Scrambler for visitors to feast their eyes over. The showroom is currently shut down thanks to Covid-19 but the company hopes to open it up again further into 2021.
