Segway, a subsidiary of Ninebot, shared its plans to release the Apex H2 motorcycle, which will receive a futuristic design and will be equipped with a hybrid power plant that can use the energy of hydrogen and electricity. Now there are only renders showing the concept of the future bike, but the manufacturer intends to present its final version in 2023. It is promised to be sold for $10,700 only.
Segway Motorcycle Design Features
The motorcycle, which is planned to be produced on the market in two years, now looks like a vehicle suitable for the hero of a science fiction film or like transport from Cyberpunk 2077. The bike uses two single-sided swingarms to create the impression that the wheels are floating in the air. It has a one-way lever and a wheel guard.
One of the features of the Apex H2 will be a unique suspension system, similar to the RADD system of James Parker, which was used in the Yamaha GTS 1000 motorcycle. It is a wheel mounting system with special rods and pivots responsible for steering and damping. And another feature of Apex H2 is the use of hydrogen fuel cells as a power source. They are located on the side and allow quick replacement when needed.
Apex H2 Specifications And Speed
It looks like this design further enhances the futuristic look of the Apex H2. We don't know its specifications yet, but if it comes with the same design as shown now, the Apex H2 will definitely grab attention on the roads.
Segway claims the hybrid motorcycle will deliver 60 kW of power, which is the equivalent of 80 horsepower. At the same time, acceleration to 60 miles / h will take only 4 seconds, and the maximum speed will be 90 miles / h. How long such a bike can travel without recharging is still unknown.
Although we see motorcycles and cars that look like they come from the future announced sometimes, these designs are usually nothing more than concept cars and they do not even go on sale. Hopefully, the situation with Segway will be different. Of course, this project is very ambitious for the Segway brand. If it is successfully implemented, the manufacturer may earn a reputation as an innovative motorcycle manufacturer.
