Racing has always been a part of the Mustang culture. This is the premise and the concept behind the National Mustang Racers Association (NMRA). It consists of several classes, including the Coyote Stock contest in which participating pony cars are powered by Ford's famous Coyote engine. Here's good news for Coyote Stock drivers: Ford Performance Parts is now offering its third-generation 5.0-liter Coyote stock sealed engine.

NMRA's Coyote Stock class – covering 1954 and newer Ford-bodied vehicles – is considered a cost-effective way to get involved in heads up drag racing. For a Mustang to enter the Coyote Stock class, it must be powered by a production OEM Ford Coyote 5.0-liter crate engine, which is factory-sealed to discourage any tampering.

Mustang racers now have a new Coyote engine for their drive: the third-gen 5.0-liter Coyote Stock Sealed Engine from Ford Performance Parts (M-6007-M50SB). A modernized 32-valve DOHC V8 mill with Twin Independent Variable Camshaft Timing (Ti-VCT), this new aluminum block Coyote engine offers 460 hp of max output and 420 lb-ft of peak torque.

Ford Performance also has something to offer for racers competing in the National Hot Rod Association's Sportsman series: the new 460 Sportsman Wedge-Style Cylinder Heads (M-6049-C460). Based on the design of the Ford Racing 351 Yates performance head, these aluminum 460 cylinder heads have a 65-cc wedge-style combustion chamber as well as raised intake and exhaust ports.

Made from 356-T6 aluminum, the 460 Sportsman Wedge Style Cylinder Heads have extra thick castings that keep the valve train components stable in their respective positions when engine RPM is at competition levels. These cylinder heads are also designed to handle high pressures and temperatures.
