Automotive and racing icon Carroll Shelby is also known for his personal drive -- a blue slab sided 289 Cobra. His spirit of design as expressed through his very first car lives on with the new Vintage Shelby limited edition e-bike, a collaboration between electric bike maker Vintage Electric and Carroll Shelby International. Let’s take a look at this two-wheeled Shelby.
Based On Speedy Vintage Roadster
As its company name explicitly indicates, Vintage Electric is a California-based manufacturer of vintage-looking yet modern electric bikes. Vintage Electric has five e-bikes to offer: Cafe, Rally, Tracker, Scrambler, and Roadster. Of these five, the Roadster sits on the top of the food chain, boasting a top speed of 36 miles per hour in race mode.
The Vintage Shelby starts as a Roadster model. It boasts the same technical specs as the base model. This is why, just like the Roadster, the Shelby e-bike offers the same extra oomph, as made possible by a 750-watt hub motor offering up to 3,000 watts of power. It gets its juice from a 1,123-Wh battery pack that offers a range of 75 miles at lower speeds, or 40 miles at higher speeds.
A Cobra On Two Wheels
Featuring a hydro-formed aluminum frame, the Vintage Shelby electric bike has been modified to match the styling of Shelby’s 289 cars. For instance, the limited edition e-bike is wrapped in N6 metallic blue paint, with black racing stripes and the Shelby Cobra badge on the top tube. Vintage Electric made sure that this e-bike offering is easily recognizable as a Shelby.
The Vintage Shelby e-bike also features a leather saddle custom-styled to match the leather interior of Shelby’s personal 289 Cobra car. The e-bike’s fork and handlebars likewise have custom leather accents. Other elements include a massive LED headlight and hydraulic disc brakes. This Cobra also comes with five power modes, pedal assist and regenerative braking.
Limited Production Run Of 300 Units

Vintage Electric is selling this new Shelby limited edition e-bike for $7,249 or $250 more than the Roadster. Being a limited edition model, the Vintage Shelby has a production run of just 300 units. Furthermore, this Cobra on two wheels could someday be a collector’s item, especially for Shelby fans.
