Shelby American wants to make its presence felt at the 2019 SEMA Show in Las Vegas this week by unveiling a more extreme version of the F-150 truck. Aptly named the Shelby Super Snake Sport F-150, this SEMA concept vehicle is a head-turner with its menacing looks and blistering engine power.
A known maker of performance vehicles, Shelby American says the new Shelby Super Snake Sport F-150 concept was created to cater to requests from hardcore enthusiasts for a “scorching fast street truck” in the spirit of the muscle cars of the 1960s.
So, Gary Patterson, president of Shelby American, worked with Vince LaViolette, the company’s Vice President of Operations and Chief of R&D, to create the Shelby Super Snake Sport F-150. The duo then collaborated with Shelby partners and suppliers, as well as with fans and team members for the design and content of the truck.
The goal? To build an unrivaled king of F150s as well as a nightmare for other trucks. Currently sitting at the top of Ford’s F-150 lineup is the 2019 Raptor, powered by a 3.5-liter twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 engine that can deliver 450 hp of max output and 510 lb.-ft. of peak torque.
But for the Shelby Super Snake Sport F-150, the good people at Shelby American went for a larger mill. It ditched the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine and shoehorned a supercharged V8 engine that is tuned to deliver a gargantuan 755 hp of max output. Now, that’s power!
Shelby American also installed a coilover suspension system to allow the Super Snake Sport F-150 to ride closer to the ground, as well as a new Borla exhaust system for a more pulsating exhaust note. Featuring traction bars and new six-piston front brake system, the Shelby Super Snake Sport F-150 sits on 22-inch aluminum wheels from Carroll Shelby Wheel, all shod with street performance tires.
Of course, the Shelby Super Snake Sport F-150 also needs to look menacing on the road. This was achieved by installing F-150 Super Snake body components. Thus, the truck dons a new hood, new grill, a new front bumper and a new front splitter. It also features rocker panels, a tonneau cover, and a bed carpet.
Also giving the Shelby truck its mean look are the double stripes running from the front end to the rear section. Its exterior look is complemented by the Shelby and Super Snake lettering and the Cobra badge on the grille.
The Shelby Super Snake Sport F-150 comes with a custom leather interior, carbon fiber accents and new floor mats as well as gauges from Shelby. It will be displayed along with the 2020 Ford Shelby GT500 Dragon Snake at Ford Motor Co.’s booth at the 2019 SEMA Show.
