Thanks to having amassed over 2.22 million subscribers, Shmee150, aka Tim Burton, has amassed an amazing collection of cars he dubs the ‘Shmeemobiles’.  A Brit himself, the cars are mostly of the Euro supercar variety, though he recently decided the Mustang GT500 as worthy of joining the club.

Currently out in America, Tim has been pondering whether he might see another American by way of Tesla in his garage after taking the Tesla Model Y for a road test, in a Tesla model that has been wrapped in a custom finish.

A Bang For Your Buck Tesla

The Model Y is, of course, one of the smaller cars in Tesla’s range, as a kind of tall Model 3, but the performance is still exemplary. 0-60 is just 3.5 seconds, as fast as some supercars from around 10 years ago and as Tim says, most modern muscle cars.  Tim takes us through a bit of a walk around with the car and you can see some of Tesla's well known quality issues. The panel gaps are larger at the top of the doors than the bottom and on the left of the hood over the right. On the other hand there is the cool feature is using a phone to access the car and unlock it, which pops open the door handle.

Driving The Model 3 Is A Very Surreal Experience

Upon driving the car, Tim says it is quite a weird experience driving a Tesla with all of the information now on the center console and information directly ahead. He also states that the acceleration is crazy, it being instant as you put your foot down. And Tim brings up how the networks are so different in the USA over the UK, with many more Tesla Superchargers over here, even if they are much more spread out. The biggest takeaways for Tim seem to be getting used to driving such a different car, and as a wobbling rear-view mirror attests, the lack of quality in some areas.

What Are Tims Overall Views On The Model 3?

So, what does Tim think overall? Well, he thinks you just have to get familiar with the Tesla cars and understand how they work because they are so very different. His Porsche Taycan is just an electric Porsche, he says, while the Tesla is a new machine entirely. He does love the party pieces such as the whoopie cushion and the games. It is controlled more like a computer than a car, everything is in a settings menu. Would he get one? He's not sure. He mentions that he is a petrol head, and a base-pack GT500 is $60k compared to the mid $60k Tesla. He is still very much undecided.
