Just imagine a four-door sedan with no rear seats at all. This kind of sedan makes no sense. That's how Shmee150 – a.k.a. Tim Burton in real life – described the new Alfa Romeo Giulia GTAm. But when one gets behind the wheel, that perception totally banishes, since this sedan is the supercar version of the underrated Alfa Romeo Giulia.

Hardcore Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA With Modificata Package

The Alfa Romeo Giulia GTAm is actually the track-ready Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA with the modificata package. As Shmee150 pointed out, these two are basically the same, although the Giulia GTAm is more hardcore version. Alfa Romeo ensured that the Giulia GTAm is all about performance despite having four doors.

If you still want a hardcore version with the rear seats still intact, then the Giulia GTA is a better proposition. It sits between the regular Giulia Quadrifoglio and the Giulia GTAm. While it offers greater performance than the regular Giulia, it won't be as good as the Giulia GTAm. Nonetheless, Alfa Romeo will build only 500 examples of both Giulia GTA and Giulia GTAm, split depending on customer orders.

Cutting Weight For Greater Performance

The deletion of the rear seats in the Giulia GTAm makes no sense, so it may seem. Well, there's no need for rear passengers when the driver is tearing up the track. Moreover, the deletion was implemented to cut weight. While the Giulia GTA still has its rear seats and glass windows, the Giulia GTAm makes use of plastic rear windows (Lexen polycarbonate).

Weight is also reduced by employing aluminum components in the doors and suspension and by replacing front seats with lighter ones. The reduced weight makes up for the installation of a full roll cage, a huge rear wing and a manually-adjustable front splitter on the Giulia GTAm. This hardcore Giulia also has spaces for racing helmets, a fire extinguisher and six-point Sabelt harnesses.

Both the Giulia GTA and GTAm share the same powertrain with the same power figures – 533 HP of max output and 442 lb-ft of peak torque. This power and other necessary adjustments resulted to a track-worthy performance that's still legal on the road. This was experienced first hand by Shmee150 when he drove the Giulia GTAm on the Balocco test track and on the roads.
