Classic cars like the Chevrolet Impala make great renders - that long, imperial body style lends itself to modification rather well thanks to its clean, straightforward design.

Of course, cars and modifications are subjective, but the renderer here takes a fresh approach to the concept: less is more. The classic car render on offer today from Instagram via Personalizatuauto ('Personalize your car' in Spanish) does heavily modify the iconic Impala in some areas while retaining its soul and the features that make it a classic in the first place.

In today’s troubled world, we could all use some soul, so let’s put on our golden-tinted shades and have a brief walk around this Chevy Impala with something to prove.

At first glance, it appears to be another slammed vintage car, but there’s more to the story. Finished in glossy black and polished to a fine sheen, the long Impala does sit low with the wide, black spoke rims sitting right up into its arches.

Red brake calipers, a very reasonable front lip, and a black bumper stand out while the interior trim looks red – or maybe burgundy, like fine wine. Like a vintage wine, the Impala arguably ages well, The artist also conserves its hind quarters with nothing to detract from that old design.

This is perhaps a lesson in rendering when applied to a classic shape like the Impala. There is room for anything and everything in the world of automobile design but less can definitely be more.

Here, the car gets lowered significantly and the wheels speak the language of muscle car loudly and proudly. But the sheen of that body – unadulterated with tons of carbon fiber, scoops and vents– is almost restrained.

We also like the apparent absence of LED lights, a rear wing, a hood scoop, and a front splitter. As there is no engine peeking forth from the hood, it isn’t easy to guess what might power this 20th-century behemoth. It would be fitting to just go with the 454 CI Turbo Jet V8 from 1970 to keep things contemporary. One thing’s for sure though. There’s room for muscle underneath this elegant old barge.
