The Datsun 240Z is the first, true Nissan Fairlady car built, and this JDM classic come under the spotlight again recently with some elements of its design now in the new 2023 Nissan Z. The Datsun 240Z has an almost timeless appeal and an iconic shape, but some want to take that to the next level. Talented digital car renderer Al Yasid took the Datsun 240Z, and has come up with this epic looking rendition of the car that he says is a 240Z on steroids.

A Wild And Wacky Design

The most obvious addition to the Datsun is its rather enormous splitter. Splitter redesigns are nothing new on renders such as this, but this totally transforms the Datsun. This is because the front bumper has had to go through a bulky redesign to accommodate it, the splitter itself extends outwards a lot to give the Datsun a race car stance when we look at it head on. Other changes at the front include a new, bulged hood design, very different headlights with thin, rectangular LED strips and massive wheel fenders. This is very much a high-performance, wide body 240Z.

Radical Wheels Highlight The Side Design

The side profile of the car highlights more of its dramatic changes. The wheels, for example, now have a crazy design, with a spiral like pattern in the front ones and a hollowed out version present in the rear wheels. These larger wheels and tires are now encased in JDM styled fenders and arches, while the streamlined, smooth design of the ones at the back of the Datsun really give off strong racing and Gran Turismo vibes. And if that wasn’t enough, then Yasid has gone all-in on his design at the rear of the Datsun.

A Modern Redesign Of The 240Z Rear

The back of the Datsun sees quite the radical redesign. Underneath the fascia is a dual-exhaust setup, which itself is neatly placed underneath quite a large and intimidating rear diffuser. Above all that, the traditional taillights are now replaced by thin, rectangular taillights, no doubt modern LEDs, and the name Datsun is evident in block capitals across the back of the car. The rearview also allows us to see just how big the rear tires are, massively enlarged over the standard tires that the Datsun would have come with. The final touch is the extra bodywork around the rear end, encompassing the bigger fenders and the casing the fascia is in.
