Back in 2005, after Samuel Eto’o made his big move from RCD Mallorca to FC Barcelona, the Cameroonian soccer player sent his Porsche Carrera GT to Gemballa--one of the original 80s tuners--for some modifications. Gemballa made a number of the requested performance and visual upgrades, and now, 15 years later, that car is up for auction courtesy of RM Sotheby’s.

Under The Hood Modifications

The upgrades under the hood were by no means minimal. Gemballa attached a custom air intake system and upgraded the stainless-steel exhaust as well as revamped the ECU, which produced an additional 58bhp from the Carrera’s 5.7-litre V10 engine. That boosted the thing to a roaring 670bhp and 464lb ft of torque. Now, the GT shoots from 0-62mph in 3.7 seconds and can hit a top speed of 208 mph.

Those more interested in what others can view will be happy to know this Carrera GT received some serious upgrades. Gemballa created five-spoke wheels to help the car’s ceramic composite brakes cool down faster. They created a custom bodykit, bonnet, roof scoop and skirt. They also added gold accents to the rear wing, wheels, air intakes, and mirrors. Inside, the gold continues across door handles, the gear shifter, the steering wheel, and the infotainment system.

Here’s the thing about this particular supercar, it has basically everything high end buyers are looking for, especially those who love soccer. It was owned by a top-notch player who was a star in Spain, Italy, and England, not to mention his home country of Cameroon. Furthermore, only 25 of these Porsche Carrera Gold Edition Mirage GTs were ever built and there’s only 4,000 miles on it. So if you want a ride like this it’s going to cost you, with current estimates being between $840,000 and $960,000.
