Sons of Anarchy makes for a very entertaining show to watch, even if it does miss what a motorcycle club is all about at times. Often shown to be violent, these gun-toting characters of SAMCRO did get to ride some amazing motorcycles, though not all of them were bikers at heart.

Ron Perlman, for example, needed plenty of practice to look like he knew his way around bikes... and Harley-Davidsons, at that. The initial season may have somewhat romanticized MCs, but as things began to get darker and more dangerous, it became a show that showcased why you shouldn't be part of a motorcycle club.

However, we're just as captivated by the show's bikes as we are by all the intense action and drama. And while everyone knows how cool the motorcycles of SoA are, here's what many forget about them:

15 John Teller: Harley-Davidson Knucklehead

via Bike-urious

John Teller is the guy who started SAMCRO. Jax's father, he was an idealist who did not believe in firearms and was killed for his troubles. His bike is shown to be a 1946 Harley-Davidson Knucklehead, that was built for the show using parts for 1946-1951 HD motorcycles. The wishbones are from a Panhead while the front end is a Knucklehead.

14 Jackson "Jax" Teller: Harley-Davidson Dyna Super Glide Sport

Painted powder black with custom T-bars, Jax's Harley-Davidson Dyna Super Glide Sport is a dream in motion considering the name Dyna means power. There's a rather graphically drawn Reaper made on the fuel tank, even though Jax was one of the characters who wanted to leave the club and take his boys someplace safe.

13 T.O. Cross: Harley-Davidson Screamin' Eagle Road Glide

T.O. Cross became the first black member of SAMCRO, and accordingly, had to have the meanest, loudest, and beastliest machine on the block – especially since he was once the President of the Grim Bast**ds MC. After 2009, Harley-Davidson renamed the Screaming Eagle line to CVO.

12 Edward Kip "Half-Sack" Epps: Harley-Davidson Dyna

The character Edward "Half-Sack" Epps isn't quite there yet, and his "Prospect" patch means SAMCRO isn't quite taken up with him as well. Though he rides a Dyna like Jax, his ride is white and yet another reason why he stands out. Much like Haf-Sack, Dyna's tubular steel frame also did not always get attention from H-D fans.

11 Opie Winston: Harley-Davidson Panhead Restoration

Opie is shown to have two Harleys on the show, but we love the restored Harley-Davidson Panhead he rides around. It gels well with long-term SAMCRO membership, even though he is shown to have had a rough go of it in the series. Did you know, the Panhead motorcycles were so named because the rocker covers resembled pans?

10 Mayan MC Member: Harley-Davidson Heritage Softail

While this is not a SAMCRO motorcycle and belongs to their arch-rivals, the Mayans, we still adore the motorcycle. The Softail range replaced the Dyna lineup. The nomenclature has been trademarked by Harley-Davidson and has now come to mean any motorcycle with a hidden rear suspension. For the 1984-2017 models, the suspension came tucked under the transmission.

9 Lincoln "Linc" Potter: Triumph Bonneville

The Bonneville name comes from the racing record so created by Johnny Allen on the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah, on a Triumph motorcycle, in 1955. To honor this, Triumph named its next product as the Triumph Bonneville T120. In Sons of Anarchy, its Lincoln "Linc" Potter, one of the good guys but not part of SAMCRO, who rides this.

8 Clarence "Clay" Morrow: Harley-Davidson Dyna Super Glide

Clay is played by none other than Ron Perlman, a man who was terrified of motorcycles and needed plenty of practice to even keep the handles straight. Similarly to how Clay takes over SAMCRO once the original leader John Teller dies, the Dyna lineup took over from the FXR range of Harley-Davidson motorcycles.

7 Piney Winston: Harley-Davidson Tri-Glide Ultra Classic

Known within Harley-Davidson as FLHTCUTG, this is the first trike by H-D after the 1932-1973 Servi Car. Based on the Electa Glide Ultra Classic, which was a two-wheeler tourer, this one is for the one who loves to ride but has physical limitations. In the show, it's Piney who rides this one, replete with an oxygen canister on the side.

6 Alex "Tig" Trager: Harley-Davidson Dyna Street Bob

For someone who clearly states that he is a necrophiliac, the darkly painted and heavily spiked Harley-Davidson Dyna Street Bob is a perfect fit. Much like the earlier models of the Dyna which were just not right in the vibration department, Tig Trager is shown to be a loyal SAMCRO member given to violence and creepy proclivities.

5 Bobby Munson: Custom Chopper

Finally, let's talk about that gorgeous Custom Chopper that probably isn't the most comfortable motorcycle to ride on but has to be among the most stylish. Of course, for SAMCRO business, Bobby also owns a Dyna Street Glide as well as a Fat Boy, but the Custom Chopper, built from scratch with an Evolution engine tops our vaunted motorcycle list from SoA.

4 Opie Winston: Harley-Davidson Dyna Super Glide Sport

This is Opie's other motorcycle, the one he uses for SAMCRO business. Considering he and Jax are best friends on the show, its only natural that his motorcycle choices gravitate towards Jax’s, thus the Dyna Super Glide Sport. The drag bars and the prominent SoA logo show him to be a loyal SAMCRO member and the Dyna is perfect for just about any rider, tall or short.

3 Filip "Chibs" Telford: Harley-Davidson Dyna Street Bob

Chibs has a Scottish-Irish legacy, one that also made him have connections with the IRA. Once part of the Belfast chapter, he later moves to SAMCRO and is Vice President of the club under Jax's command. He rides a Dyna Street Bob, and when Harley-Davidson discontinued the Dyna line in favor of the Softail, many Harley-Davidson purists were annoyed.

2 Mayan President Marcus Alvarez: Harley-Davidson Road King

Most of the Harley-Davidson motorcycles shown to be part of SAMCRO are unfaired. While Marcus Alvarez isn’t SAMCRO at all and is the president of their arch-rivals, the Mayans, his unfaired Harley-Davidson Road King is a presence of its own. More so since the Mayans and SAMCRO declared an iffy truce.

1 Happy Lowman: Harley-Davidson Dyna Street Bob

Happy is a misnomer for the character who initially plays SAMCRO's assassin and later becomes Sergeant at Arms for SAMCRO, under Jax's command. He rides a Dyna Street Bob in black with some pretty cool graphics. Considering the Dyna range has long been replaced by Softail, all the Dynas on this show are now collector’s motorcycles.
