There are plenty of electric vehicle startups looking to build sedans and crossovers, but Spanish initiative group Baltasar has taken a different path. It targets the track car market with its new flamboyant and radical Revolt.

What Is The New Revolt Electric Supercar?

Baltasar Revolt hails from the Catalan city of Cerdanyola del Vallés.  It was assembled in the Vallés Technopark at the initiative of Baltasar López, head and founder of the Millor and Plugging companies specializing in batteries and recharging technologies.

Thus, it is possible to say that the presentation of this supercar was a logical step for the businessman, although the radical concept chosen for his first model continues to amaze. While many journalists put the original Tesla roadster together with the Baltasar project, this car is much more radical.

Baltasar Revolt Specifications

The Baltasar Revolt is a two-seater based on a lightweight metal frame with many carbon fiber elements. Under the hood of the electric supercar, there are two powerful independent electric motors, which provide 507 horsepower and 737 lb-ft of torque.

The weight of the new car is 1700 pounds, including the batteries. The Revolt is more suitable for the track, where the driver can benefit the most from its technical characteristics, and not feel self-conscious wearing a helmet.  According to the company, the electric car can accelerate to 60 mph in less than 2.5 seconds.

The body is made entirely of carbon fiber. This is the most "Spartan" model, as the cab has no windshield, roof, or windows, which certainly accounts for some of that low weight.  Its starting price is 230,000 euros ($278,234). It is reported that Baltasar Revolt will start production at the end of next year.

Baltasar Shows Itself As A Risk-Taker

It is quite amazing that this young company decided to take the risk and introduce a high-performance sports car in its first debut in a still emerging electricity market. Then again, it is much easier to design an uncompromising, cool sports car than a production car that not only has more elements but also has to meet more demanding parameters. But Baltasar chose the more exciting path, and now we will see if there is a market for it.
