For those who can’t wait for the 2019 Silverado, there’s a 2018 model with 800 horsepower that you can own right now.
Speciality Vehicle Engineering is a company that takes its name seriously. They take regular old GMC cars, like the Camaro or Corvette, and then do something special to them. Usually, that means slap a massive supercharger on the engine to give it more horsepower than God, but they do it in a special, loving way.
That’s what SVE has done with the Chevy Silverado, a workhorse truck if there ever was one. But the Silverado has never been all that special. Sure, it’ll get whatever work you have done, no questions asked, but it won’t make a whole lot of screeching noise and tear around the worksite at 150 mph while it does it.
SVE changed that with the special edition 2018 Yenko/SC Silverado. Why is it special? How’s 800 horses at your beck and call? And that’s just for starters.
Under the hood is a 6.8-liter supercharged V8 engine, which puts out 800 hp and 750 lb-ft of torque. That’s a bigger engine than you can find on the highest trim level possible from Chevy, and it only gets better from there.
The Yenko/SC Silverado began life as a base model Standard Cab, Short Box Silverado, which is the smallest version you can get. From there, SVE tore out its insides and replaced them with special components, including "custom stainless steel headers, high-flow cats, and stainless steel cat-back dual exhaust system with dual wall 3-1/2 tips″ for that monster of an engine.
To keep the truck from launching itself into outer space, the engineers at SVE also gave it a brand new tuned suspension which is lower, has custom a front sway bar and Rancho shocks. Brembo brakes are in the front, and each wheel is now 22-inches of rubber and steel.
Despite all the new specialness, the truck only weighs 7200 lbs, which is only a little more than the highest trim V8 Silverado.
Along with a numbered badge and key fob, you can also get your Yenko/SC Silverado in any color you want for an extra $995. But they’re only making 25 of them, so you’d better act fast.
