The QX55 is a new addition to the Infiniti lineup. It shares its powertrain, interior design, and suspension system with the Infiniti QX50 but will be branded as a new model with a more striking exterior design and higher price range.

BMW's more stylish adaptation of the X3, the X4, has been around for a couple of years, with improvements each year. Just like the QX55, the BMW X4 incorporates a sloping roofline that makes it look more aggressive and slick, but it compromises the cargo capacity. On the bright side, it has two different engine options for those who want a wider range of choices.

Both cars have great applications of modernity mixed with conventional practicality, but let's see how these two slick SUVs match up against each other.

In the QX55, the same variable-compression turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine used in the QX50 generates 268 HP. This engine is referred to as the VC-Turbo. All-wheel drive will come standard, as will a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT).

The QX55 is expected to have quick acceleration. The QX50 performs a 6.4-second sprint from zero to 60 MPH and demonstrates a convenient SUV with decent but not particularly sporty handling. According to reports, the QX55 is essentially comparable in performance to the QX50. The QX55's silky ride, snappy turbo punch, and quiet interior make it a pleasure to drive.

The baseline BMW X4 xDrive30i is propelled forth by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, producing 248 HP and 258 lb-ft of torque. This model has a decent 6.1 second 0-60 MPH time. The X4 M40i is an excellent choice if you're looking for something with a little more oomph. There is a turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine in this vehicle, which generates a powerful 382 HP and 365 lb-ft of torque.

The BMW X4 M40i accelerates from 0 to 60 MPH in just 4.2 seconds, and the sound of its engine is almost as remarkable. Both models are equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission that distributes power to the vehicle's wheels. It doesn't matter which X4 you pick; you'll be rewarded with a vehicle that combines responsive handling with comfortable driving dynamics.

Interior Design & Features: Not Too Shabby

Infiniti's designers have chosen a more pared-back appearance for the QX55's interior, which is mainly based on the QX50's style and equipment. Genuine leather and semi-aniline leather will be available as options for the base versions, while faux-leather upholstery will be included as standard equipment. Inside the QX55, the open-pore wood trim is a refreshing change amongst sporty SUV cabins, which tend to favor carbon-fiber trim as a default option. Headroom is likely to be compromised with the presence of a sloping roofline.

A dual-screen infotainment system seems to be the direction Infiniti is taking, with the primary screen functioning as a navigation system and the secondary screen serving as a media player and controlling the vehicle's settings. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are both standard features, and Infiniti has included wireless connections for the first time. A Bose sound system will likely be available as an add-on option.

The X4's premium interior exudes a sense of crisp, contemporary style. In appearance, the central stack resembles a superhero's shield, and it lies underneath a gorgeous floating touchscreen. In terms of legroom, the X4's 35.5 inches is smaller than the X3's more practical cousin, the X3 (36.4 inches). You'll also have to make some sacrifices when it comes to cargo capacity in the X4. With all the seats in position, this vehicle has a cargo space of just 19 cubic feet and 51 cubic feet when the rear seats are folded down.

The X4 comes standard with an HD radio and a 12-speaker audio system in the entry-level trim. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are pre-installed, making it simple to pair your phone with your car. A built-in navigation system is also included, as is an infotainment system with a 12.3-inch touchscreen display. As an option, drivers of the X4 may use five basic hand gestures to manage the vehicle's infotainment system.

Both cars come standard with a slew of driver-assistance capabilities. The Infiniti QX55 features standard forward-collision warning and automatic emergency braking, alongside a blind-spot monitoring mechanism and adaptive cruise control with a semi-autonomous driving option.

BMW X4's best driver-assistance features come as optional packages. Still, it provides standard features such as forward-collision alarm with automated emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and lane-departure warning with an assisting lane-keeping technology.

Both cars come at around the same price, but the BMW X4 is the winner in this battle. More engine options, better performance, and more elegant interior design make the X4 the favorite in this head-to-head pairing.
