Sportbikes have revolutionized the world of two-wheeled vehicles, they are faster than most supercars, some of them are the scariest motorcycles available. Given their popularity, sportbikes have inundated the market. As a result, several motorcycle owners have decided to turn their babies into something unique.

Uniqueness is great, but modifying a motorcycle can go south at times. Not all projects end up being modified sportbikes people would love to ride on the track. The reasons may be numerous, but the disastrous results are often due to a clear lack of taste.

10 Stickers Overload

Yamaha has manufactured some amazing motorcycles over the last four decades. The Japanese company was able to create some of the meanest and loudest motorcycles made for the general public. Their racy look gave their owners the possibility to easily modify them. Consequently, turning a Yamaha into an absolute monster does not require much work.

There are many ways somebody can ruin a perfectly fine looking motorcycle. However, one of the cheapest and most effective way is to add as many random stickers as possible. This R6 has got the all the lame stickers one could ever think of. From the Playboy bunny, to the skull, to the home-wrecker sticker just ruin the looks of this otherwise cool R6.

9 Ruined Triumph

The British are not very present in the motorcycle industry, but the companies that do produce British motorcycles tend to do things just right. Triumph is one British brand that has trumped both American and Japanese motorcycles. Their success can unfortunately be a curse.

The Speed Triple could be considered one of the best sportbikes for a beginner rider. However, that does not mean that the Speed Triple is made to receive atrocious modifications like this one. The finish on the gas tank is hideous, not to mention the John Deere-style wheels!

8 Stretched

Japan has some of the most popular sportbikes ever made. During the 1980s, Suzuki came out with its mind-blowing GSX-R. Directly rivaling other Japanese sportbikes, the GSX-R was the motorcycle that revolutionized the entire scene. European and American motorcycle manufacturers had to completely re-think the way they were building motorcycles.

People have modified their vehicles in many different ways. However, a Crown Royal GSX-R is a bit off-putting and the crown-shaped rims are definitely one of the ugliest things custom bike fans may encounter this year. Then there's the stretched swingarm and fat rear wheel that's guaranteed to ruin the bike's handling.

7 Low

Honda started off by manufacturing motorized bicycles. Following the success of its effortless bicycle, the Japanese company went on to produce affordable and reliable cars. Its cars were a huge success globally and still are today. Honda did notice that big bikes were increasingly popular. The company took advantage of its past experience producing bicycles and released some mean machines.

This CBR would have been really cool looking if it was not a quarter of an inch away from the ground. Despite having a debatable amount of stickers, the bike remains somewhat nice to look at. Unfortunately, its extremely low-clearance will prevent it from actually being practical.

6 French Massacre

There are several motorcycle manufacturers that have created some of the sickest bikes out there, and Kawasaki is one of them. Throughout the years, Kawasaki developed one of the most iconic sportbikes ever. The Ninja was even featured in the motion picture Top Gun. Less popular models, such as the ER-6n, are just as impressive.

The ER-6n is a decent naked bike. Kawasaki has done a great job at designing it. A French shop decided to restyle the bike and came up with this abomination.  From the tires to the headlight, there is nothing about this bike that looks nice.

5 Mad Max

Out of all the sportbikes available on the market, Ducati tends to be at the top of the food chain. Ducati bikes can be considered the Ferrari of motorcycles. Thanks to their amazing designs and performances, Ducati motorcycles have gone through the years without failing to live up to their reputation.

The Diavel tends to be one of those sportbikes everyone forgot about. It seems like some people have not. This Diavel is not an atrocity in and of itself. That being said, the Mad Max styled custom bikes are getting a bit old. The boxy shape of the bike may have been cool ten years ago. In 2020, this style is simply played out.

4 Steampunk

In the last twenty years, a plethora of motorcycles were put on the market. Some were respectable, others were not. Upon the release of the YZF-R1, Yamaha set the bar really and redefined what should be considered as respectable. Thanks to its roaring sound and outstanding engine, the R1 quickly became the go-to bike for thrill-seekers.

The R1 is one of the fastest production bikes to ever run the quarter-mile. Since it is one of the fastest bikes ever made, tuners worldwide modified the legendary R1. This steampunk R1 belongs to the dumpster. The motorcycle was stretched out and given a treatment that will for sure turn some heads. Would it be for the right reason? That is highly questionable.

3 Streetfighter

Suzuki is known for its sportbikes. There is not a single rider out there that has never heard the name "Suzuki." In the late 1990s, Suzuki went all in and started marketing the Hayabusa. The Hayabusa (Falcon in English) was one of the fastest motorcycles ever made. Twenty years later, the Hayabusa remains an absolute legend.

Streetfighters tend to be really cool. Applied to a Hayabusa, the style can really the bike an additional layer of aggressiveness. However, the moderate rat style applied to the bike ruins everything. It is clear the bike is not used to do any tricks, so why ruin it? A nice coat of paint or a tastefully chosen wrap may fix the issue.

2 Rat Style

The iconic GSX-R has been a center of the sportbike scene for decades. In fact, the GSX-R somewhat eclipsed the CBR, and became the main challenger to the YZF-R1 and R6. As a result, amateur and professional tuners have taken upon themselves to modify this incredible machine.

The GSX-R 750 is one of the used motorcycles every biker should ride. It is a great bike all around. However, the bike is a victim of its own success and people have performed horrible custom work on them. This particular example looks like it received some styling cues from a homeless person's shopping cart.

1 All Terrain

Given the YZF-R1 success, it is logical that owners worldwide decided to turn the legendary motorcycle into something very special. In most cases, R1s have received some of the most outlandish treatments. A handful of R1s are actually faster than most custom Lamborghinis and McLaren out there.

The backstory of this R1 is that its owner wanted to get to the North Pole with it. Adventurous people always come up with crazy ideas. Nothing crazy here. However, anything north of Los Angeles gets cold. Ride to the North Pole? A Toyota Tacoma could also do the trick. To each their own. This monster R1 is not making the cut though.
