YouTube channel Bikes and Beards starts the video after receiving a large, motorcycle sized box from Harley-Davidson which is unusual as motorcycles are typically not sent that way, particularly American or Japanese motorcycles.

To their surprise after the unboxing, Harley-Davidson has sent over a new Sportster S, which they've set out to turn into a flat track bike.

Check out the video to watch them test out the capabilities of the Sportster S including speed and fuel economy.

Christmastime: Unboxing The Harley-Davidson Sportster S

After telling Harley-Davidson about being "Pumped about the New Sportster S" they send one over to undergo the transition into a flat track bike, though as they state, it is unusual for a motorcycle to arrive in a box.

Nonetheless, it arrives unscathed.

After an unboxing and immediately starting off with a burnout, they decide to take the Sportster S against a Harley-Davidson 131 on the road.

The 131 has an upgraded engine and is "pretty quick for a Harley-Davidson."

After two times taking the bikes against each other, they ultimately determine that both are simply fast.

They then go on a 0-60 mph run to determine the way to get the fastest possible 0-60 time in the Harley-Davidson Sportster S, which eventually leads to his custom-made driving mode and soon realizes that traction control was inhibiting the time, begging the ultimate question if it is fast enough to unseat the Harley-Davidson Destroyer's time of 3.1 seconds.

The next task is to disassemble the bike to make sure it isn't a scooter and determine if it is in fact a motorcycle, which they decide it is; thus far, the Sportster S has put up an impressive showing.

With the Sportster S thus far exceeding expectations, they decide to test the MPG rating. Harley-Davidson claims it will get up to 43 MPG, but he bets it will go further than a Honda that claims it will achieve over 100 MPG.

The difference being that the Harley-Davidson has a significant power advantage over the Honda and on a simple cruise down the highway, the Honda will be at its limit while the Harley-Davidson will be using only a fraction of its power.

Harley-Davidson intentionally estimates their MPG ratings this way to account for real world usage of the motorcycles.

They drain the fuel tanks of each bike and fill both with exactly 1 gallon of gas and heads toward the highway.

Once on the highway, as expected, the fuel levels of the Honda drop quickly as the bike reaches its limit. Once the Honda runs out of fuel, and they pull to the side of the road, the Harley-Davidson is ready for more and keeps going. The Sportster S ultimately goes for 73 miles, far exceeding its original MPG estimate. The video ends with further discussion of future plans to turn the Sportster S into a flat track bike.
