Touted as an electric sedan that would give the Tesla Model 3 a good run for its money, the Polestar 2 represents a big shift for the Swedish high-performance brand owned by Volvo Cars and Geely. To celebrate that shift, Polestar has inked a partnership deal with The Wall Street Journal to create a mini docuseries that goes deeper into the brand's environmentally friendly innovations.

The docuseries titled “Making aNew”—set for five parts—delves into the ethos of Polestar and takes a closer look into the high-performance brand's advancements in terms of sustainability, electrification, and performance. For those interested in viewing the docuseries, it’s available on Polestar’s website.

Since its launch in 2017, Polestar has sought to develop new technologies while employing unconventional materials to make its vehicles. With the goal of becoming the most transparent automotive company, the brand has been publishing detailed climate impact reports of its EVs leaving the production line. In fact, Polestar has published a full life cycle assessment of the Polestar 2 Electric Fastback, and is planning to release its first annual sustainability report in March 2021.

Interestingly, the docuseries will be hosted by Oscar Isaac, who is known for winning the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor for his role as politician Nick Wasicsko in the 2015 HBO miniseries Show Me a Hero. He is also known for his role as X-wing pilot Poe Dameron in the Star Wars sequel trilogy. But when he is not busy filming, he is championing climate justice.

In accepting the "Making aNew" docuseries project, Isaac remarked that Polestar has been transparent about how its cars are built and accountable for its impact on the planet. He added that Polestar is also taking steps to offset the footprint of its vehicles.

According to Fredrika Klarén, Head of Sustainability at Polestar, a collaboration with visible climate activists like Isaac would help raise not just awareness but also understanding, while leading the way for a more sustainable future. The Swedish company commenced production of the Polestar all-electric 5-door fastback in March.
