Hot off the presses and a put a pot of hot coffee on the stove. My personal favorite new shooting brake - sorry, AMG E63 S Wagon - the 2020 Audi RS6 Avant is set to make its debut on November 10th in Malibu, California at the bi-weekly Cars and Coffee gathering. She'll be available for viewing between the hours of 7am and 9am at Malibu Bluffs Park with a question and answer session with Audi product and marketing personnel. Don't be late.

After its retreat from the American market over ten years ago, Audi-heads, hot wagon aficionados, and the Euro-market crowd have been salivating at the prospect of the return of the Audi RS6 Avant. She's long been a staple of the European market going through several model changes and evolutions from the relatively mild to the full-blown extreme. The newest model - the C8, go figure? - has been thoroughly redesigned inside and out with a mean and clean classically Teutonic exterior, sleek interior appointments with premium materials, and the best of what the Audi group has in their parts bin under the hood.

And earlier this year, Audi finally pulled the trigger announcing the return of the iconic model to the American market for the 2020 model year. The 4.0 liter twin-turbo V-8 engine combined with a 48 volt mild-hybrid system generates 591 hp and a flat and fat torque curve of 590 lb.-ft. All that juice is channeled through Audi's signature 8-speed Tiptronic transmission with sport and launch control modes through all-wheel drive drive and a sport differential. Early performance leaks seem nothing short of spectacular.

Design cues on the outside are understated, visceral, and direct. The RS honeycomb grille adorned in gloss black, long, clean sides giving way to flat yet appropriate D-pillars, and color matched roof spoiler and underbody trim gels into a complete package. Inside, German restraint is, as always has been the case, on full display with premium materials, high tech gadgetry, RS accents, and a driver-centric MMI touch response system. The architecture, packaging, and ergonomics are top notch working well together in a way that delivers without drawing excessive attention to itself.

So if you're in the Malibu area stop by and check out the 2020 Audi RS6 Avant. And don't forget the coffee. Buckle up.
