One of the coolest things about JDM cars is the modding scene. For many years, tuners and modders have been playing with JDM cars of all eras to produce some impressive machines, far removed from what the cars originally were when they left the factory. This one is no exception. It is a Nissan C211 Skyline that has been modified by Masanari Furukawa. And he has taken this Skyline and turned it into a combination of a lowrider, custom build, and hot rod with all of those philosophies rolled into one.

A Skyline That Combines Several Different Car Cultures

via Stance Nation

This car was covered by Stance Nation, and they say that many of us in the United States would probably see this car as a traditional hot rod. And we would have to agree with that statement, and Furukawa says that he was influenced predominantly by both the hot rod and lowrider scene. The exterior itself has been largely unchanged, with the main body being quite close to stock. There are a few basic changes such as the front lip spoiler and rear duckbill wing, but nothing completely ludicrous so as to ruin the overall appeal of the C211.

Under The Hood: L28 Straight-Six Engine

via Stance Nation

And that sums up the main theme of this car. Simplicity. It is about modifying the car in such a way that is simple, yet also delivers quite a dramatic end result. Under the hood is an L28 straight-six with plenty of chrome to keep you busy with the polish. To modernize the car, it has been fitted with a S14 5-speed gearbox to give a nice, smooth driving experience. But perhaps the Skyline's most impressive modifications are what's been done to the wheels, tires, and suspension.

Where The Magic Takes Place

via Stance Nation

This is where the real magic happens. Furukawa has fitted the Skyline with a hydraulic suspension from Skipper Japan and then added in some fantastic wheels in the form of Work Equip 40s. These have been fitted with Potenza RE-71R tires, which are a perfect fit for the chassis and leave enough clearance to get around comfortably. Plus, they are stylish enough to give the car quite an outspoken appearance, while not being so over the top that they ruin the sleek lines of this classic Skyline.
