For generations, supercars have been a sign of economic success. As supercars are often handmade and manufactured in very limited numbers, they tend to be costly. The only people that can afford to purchase and maintain supercars are obviously people with a really nice income stream.

There are times when supercar owners just end up let their property rot. Maybe it is due to the fact that some supercars are losing value like crazy? Or perhaps the IRS is after them? Maybe the ex-wife is trying to score big? We might never know why supercars are abandoned. What is for sure is that seeing these great cars rotting away is always heart-wrenching.

10 Aston Martin DB9

This Aston Martin DB9 is one of those gorgeous European supercars that have been abandoned by their owners. Instead of just hand this DB9 over to the authorities, the owner of this Aston Martin just let it rot. As it says on the back window, if you are not using it, give the car to somebody.

9 Ferrari 550 Maranello

Some of the most popular supercar manufacturers come from Italy. As a result, Italian cars have had to live up to certain standards. Unlike French cars, Italian cars are perceived as some of the classiest and most notorious cars ever made. As Ferrari supercars have become popular globally, they have also faced different fates.

At first glance, this Ferrari does not seem to be abandoned. It is in great shape, and quite frankly seems new. As a matter of fact, the car might be new. The car was found in an abandoned dealership in China. It is fair to say that something dodgy was going on if the owner of the dealership left a perfectly fine Ferrari to rot.

8 Lamborghini Countach

The 1980s were definitely a dark era for muscle cars. Outside of the 5.0 Foxbody and the Grand National/GNX, most American sports cars were disappointing. Meanwhile, European automakers were coming out with some of the coolest sports cars. From the M3 E30, to the Hammer, to the Countach, European cars from the 1980s were simply legendary.

Imagine you go to your uncle's house and decide to look for a wrench in his garage. You pop the door open only to find a Lamborghini Countach that has been sitting there for over twenty years. This is exactly what happened to this, except that he knew the car had been sitting there for a while.

7 Mercedes-Benz McLaren SLR

Mercedes-Benz is known for its extremely powerful AMG-Series. From the 1980s onward, the German carmaker has released some of the meanest four-door sedans and two-door coupes. However, the German carmaker, like most carmakers, is fully aware that some car enthusiasts out there are far more financially able than others.

Apparently, this Mercedes-Benz SLR has been sitting in the same spot since 2011. Located in the Czech Republic, there has been zero effort from the state or the impound lot to auction off this marvel of a car. After spending countless winters outside, it is fair to assume the car will need some major restoration work done in order to run again.

6 Porsche Carrera GT

Porsche has always been one of the most popular car manufacturers in the world. Back in the 1950s, James Dean was an avid fan of Porsche race cars, which greatly help the brand get some much-needed free advertising. In 2005, Porsche released its flabbergasting Carrera GT. Until today, it is one of the greatest Porsche cars ever made.

The Carrera GT is worth at least $750,000 in good condition. With only 1,250 units ever produced, it is one of the most valuable Porsche to own. This dealership in China must have gone through some serious trouble. It seems as if the owners packed up as much stuff as they could and vanished before things got real.

5 Lamborghini Diablo SE30

Back in the early 1990s, supercar manufacturers such as Bugatti and Lamborghini released some truly mind-blowing vehicles. They were both beautifully designed and powered with some of the best engines ever made at the time. Today, these cars are million of dollars.

Though the Lamborghini Diablo was produced for eleven years, less than 3,000 were made. Out of that number, only 150 were SE30 models. The SE30 is fitted with a 5.7L V12 that cranks out an amazing 525hp. A SE30 was for sale a few years back for around $750,000. Well, somebody abandoned one in a parking garage.

4 Jaguar XJ220

Jaguar is known for its powerful and snazzy sedans and the occasional sport coupe that defy all logic. Until recently, it was a formula that seemed to have worked quite well. The company was bought out by Tata Motors a couple of years ago and it helped Jaguar be more in touch with the current market trends. Some of the older Jaguar cars, the truly British ones, are now worth a fortune.

The Jaguar supercar is one of the best cars ever made by the British automaker. With only 282 units ever produced, the XJ220 is one of the rarest Jaguar cars ever made.

3 Mercedes-Benz AMG SLS Brabus

Mercedes-Benz and its AMG-Series are among the best high-end sports cars out there. It is a fact. However, the same vehicles can triple in value if they are prepared by the German tuner Brabus. Brabus is known for turning respectably powered sports cars into monsters.

This Mercedes-Benz AMG SLS Brabus seems to have been owned by either an up and coming drug dealer, or a disgraced trader that was thrown under the bus following an economic meltdown. What is for sure is that the car has not moved for quite a while and is most likely going to belong to the city.

2 Acura NSX

The NSX is the ultimate Japanese supercar. It is extremely fast and is designed like a true supercar. The newer edition is following its older sister's footsteps.

This is by far the oddest place to park a car. It is quite unclear how this NSX ended up in the woods, as most people know that NSX's do not grow on trees. If it were the case, every single gearhead would be cruising around in NSX's. It is truly sad to see the most respected Japanese supercar rotting in some wooded area.

Though it might be a bit extreme, the owner of this Gallardo may have been involved in some shady business and had to get rid of his car as soon as possible.
