Subaru’s new WRX STI S209 special edition will be priced at $65,000, which sounds like a lot. Luckily, there’s a new deal out that will take some of the sting off of that sticker shock.

When Subaru announced that America would finally get it's S-model WRX STI, we were amazed. Sure, it wouldn't have the EJ20 engine found in Japan, but it would still get the same treatment as the overseas model. Namely, a boosted engine with over 30 more hp, carbon fiber parts, a set of 19-inch BBS wheels, Brembo brakes, Bilstein shocks, Recaro racing bucket seats, and an Ultrasuede steering wheel.

We knew that Subaru would make 209 examples for the US market, but we didn't know how much it would cost until last week. Subaru gave us a bit of a shock when they said that the S209 would be priced $27,000 more than a regular WRX STI at $63,995 plus $885 destination. Which is quite a lot for a Subaru, even one with all fancy parts and 30 more horses.

That’s enough to price a lot of people out, but thankfully, there’s a deal out to help folks out. According to Cars Direct, the 2019 Subaru WRX STI S209 is eligible for 3.49% APR for 63 months. As the publication points out, that’s not nearly as good as the 1.19% APR for 72 months that the other WRX models can get, but it’s still pretty good for a $65,000 sports car.

And it can save you big bucks. Cars Direct compared it against a 6% car loan and found that you'd save $4,700 bucks over the 63-month term. That's a significant chunk of change, too.

Sadly, with a limited-run of 209 units, dealers might be less inclined to price the S209 at MSRP and mark the car up due to demand. In this case, that $4,700 can evaporate pretty quickly. We’ll find out when the S209 arrives later this year.
