Almost every superhero or superhero team has that one vehicle that helps them get where they're going. This list is a little more than that, as I've gone and found some of the toughest vehicles ever owned by some of our favorite heroes. Here you won't find the Spider-mobile (gone almost as soon it was created), nor will you find the Jokermobile—for a villain vehicle list will have to be on another day.

This one is just for the heroes, the guys who have made incredible machines for use on the daily, ones that are just as strong and useful as they are—you know, just in case they somehow lose their superpowers in the middle of some epic battle. These 25 vehicles have shown up in either comic books or movies that have reached millions of fans around the globe for years.

From the ever-loved Batmobile to the relatively obscure U.S.1 intergalactic tractor-trailer, I try to cover vehicles not only from the Marvel and DC universes but some of the others that have made their impact on the comic-loving world collectively. These stories have produced some of the most wicked and strange vehicles—ones that I know I'd want on my side in any fight against some supervillain.

So to stop myself from further daydreaming, I hope you enjoy the 25 superhero vehicles as tough as the superheroes themselves.

26 Blade's Charger

MuscleCarZone

Before the movie, Blade didn't have a car to ride around in. In the movies, he had a stock 1968 Dodge Charger. It was on the inside that the Dodge's enhancements were controlled by a couple of switches on the dash. It utilized UV lights that deterred vampires and a nitrous shot that helped Blade, along with a holster to carry a shotgun loaded with garlic-filled silver bullets. Only one car was used in the whole series and it was sold to a guy in Vancouver who replaced the 383 Magnum with a 440.

25 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' Battle Shell

ComicBook

The Battle Shell is the more recent vehicle of the TMNT. In the past, the Turtles have owned the Turtle van, which is often portrayed as a souped-up VW Bus that was also nicknamed the Party Wagon. In the live-action movie, however, the Turtles donned an old Mack trash truck which was done up by Donatello into the Battle Shell, which could shoot manhole covers, katanas, and had mechanical arms with nunchucks that operated from within the cabin. The Battle Shell may be a newer toy in the line-up but it is the baddest one of them all.

24 Ghost Rider's Hell-Cycle

gdefon.ru

Ghost Rider has always been a seriously wicked character, and with all that leather, he needs a bike that matches himself. The Hellcycle isn't only a mode of transportation, but more like a loyal pet, as it does whatever Ghost Rider wants. There may have been a Skullcycle that Ghost Rider rode, but the Hellcycle definitely has the top spot for one of the sweetest rides any superhero could have, and also one of the toughest in any of the various superhero universes.

23 Green Hornet's Black Beauty

IdealClassicCars

One of the only cars on this list that is based on a car in real life, the Black Beauty is a modified Chrysler Imperial. I think even the word 'modified' couldn't define the number of modifications on this Imperial, though, with a wide range of upgrades that include an array of missiles, machine guns, a 500-hp 454 V8, flamethrower, 12-gallon fuel cell, and a shotgun, among other things. The Black Beauty is a gorgeous car, and with the way it's built, is definitely tough enough to take on almost any villain.

22 Lobo's Spazzfrag 666

Pinterest

A 17-liter 3X Turbo motorcycle that's capable of interstellar space travel, does it get any cooler? This Hog is built to the max, complete with machine guns, flamethrowers, flaming skulls, and a seemingly unlimited top speed. There is nothing this bike can't do. Lobo loves this bike, though he has lost it a couple of times for unpaid bills and relationship problems. But no matter who steals it, the rider's seat will always be reserved for the Main Man himself.

21 The Punisher's Battle Van

CBR

The Punisher is already pretty tough himself, having to live through the trauma incorporated into his origin story and being the vigilante he is, he is definitely hardened to fight his enemies. With a man like The Punisher, he has to have something to get him around quickly and have enough defense. The Battle Van comes with a four-barrel minigun, grenade launcher, and of course, plenty of machine guns. On top of the artillery, there is a super-computer and air conditioning.

20 Captain America's Harley

Reddit

Through every rendition of Captain America, he has had a Harley-Davidson by his side, from his earliest WWII days on a Harley-Davidson WLA with assorted weapons and gadgets. This bike isn't only tough as nails, having been in a war, but was Captain America's weapon of choice against HYDRA. More recently, when he unfroze, he used a Softail Slim, Softail Breakout, and a Street 750 which were used for personal use, though none are as tough as that original WLA.

19 The Avengers' Quinjet

via pinterest

Utilized by the Avengers and S.H.I.E.L.D, the Quinjet is a stealth transporter that cannot be detected by any machine. Though mostly used by the Avengers, more than one Quinjet has been created, each with its own purpose and certain upgrades depending on who developed it. Tony Stark had made three of them and Peter Parker, along with Parker Industries, redesigned and upgraded one. They may not be quite as tough, as they aren't armed to the gills with weapons, but for transporting the Avengers around into wherever they need to go, it's gotta be pretty rough-and-tumble.

18 Tank Girl's Tank

Nerdist

I don't think I have to explain why a tank is tough, and through a sort of dystopia wasteland, I wouldn't want to drive anything else. Tank Girl is a brash, tough, and not a very serious character who has no problem taking care of business. Sometimes such business concerns utilizing that tank. I couldn't find much information about the tank, no make or model, but a tank is a tank, and it's gonna be tough no matter what you do with it.

17 Judge Dredd's Lawmaster

LongboxGraveyard

Yet another motorcycle that is wicked tough, the Lawmaster is equipped with mounted machine guns, the motorcycle is made to carry Widowmakers, and features communication gadgets to help the Judges relay information to the Grand Hall of Justice. Pretty basic so far, perhaps, but the Lawmasters had built-in robot brains to help them run on their own and assist the Judges. The bike looks tough and is built to take on any potential need of Judge Dredd's.

16 Agent Phil Coulson's Lola

SyFy

Lola is a fully-restored and drastically-modified 1962 Corvette that Phil and his father Robert restored when Phil was younger. Lola is equipped with Stark Industries technology that enables it to hover, while guns and a flamethrower were installed, along with a bulletproof windshield. This is all that has been shown in the show so far, but there is an array of buttons that has yet to be employed. This classic car is beautiful, and even with the top off, it's built to be tough.

15 Fantastic Four's Fantasti-Car

Twitter

Created by Mr. Fantastic himself, the earliest Fantasi-Car has been ridiculed for looking like a floating Bathtub. Since then, the design has been sleeker and in the movie, was even branded as a Dodge... Nevertheless, the Fantasi-Car can separate into four different segments controlled by the assigned team member. It could travel up to 550 mph, 30,000 feet up in the sky, and has a range of over 3,000 miles. It sounds simple and though it's not built to take on enemies directly, it is fully bulletproof.

14 Wonder Woman's Invisible Jet

Wonder Woman Wikia

Originally a morphing disk given to Wonder Woman by the Lansinarians, the Invisible Jet could transform into different transparent items, getting changed into a plane until the disk lost sentience and remained a plane. Though that's just one of the origin stories that comes with the machine. On a darker end, it's Owlman's plane that Wonder Woman stole and broke while he was fighting her, leaving it forever stuck in cloaking mode.

13 Authority's Carrier

ComicVine

The Carrier is a spaceship of sorts that is capable of inter-dimensional travel, is 50 miles long, 35 miles tall, and two miles wide. It orbits around the Earth, but at the same time can open doors to travel to any point, in any dimension, during any time period. The Carrier is also sentient and displays a fair amount of intelligence, having blocked an attack by Kev Hawkins, a black-ops who was assigned to take out The Carrier with an alien-controlled atomic bomb.

12 Superman's Supermobile

Pinterest

The Supermobile may seem redundant at first, and that's because it sort of is. The Supermobile has just about all the powers of Superman, so why would he want a machine that could do the work for him? Is it for when he doesn't have the ability to do it himself? An exploding red sun disabled Superman's powers, so he took to creating a machine built out of Supermanium, the strongest metal in the universe. Armed with robotic hands, the Supermobile may have not been used very much, but it's got to be strong to fight like Superman.

11 U.S. Archer's U.S.1

Fishki

One of the two tractor-trailers on the list, this one is owned by a Ulysses Archer, a truck driver that is also a son of truck-driver parents. He customized his semi after The Highwayman caused an accident. His semi featured an assortment of weapons to help take on the Highwayman. Along with the weapons built into his semi, U.S. Archer can also control his rig from a controller that is disguised as a silver dollar.

10 Optimus Prime (Convoy)

Wikipedia

So I know that technically he is the vehicle, but he's definitely tough and disguises himself as a Freightliner cab-over. Later on, Optimus Prime carried a trailer that transformed into a battle station, which he and the mini-cons can use. As if he wasn't powerful already, he can combine with other Autobots in his Super mode and use different weapons. More recently, Optimus Prime has been portrayed as a Peterbilt 379 and a custom Western Star 5700 Phantom.

8 X-Men's Blackbird

Pinterest

Before the Blackbird, the X-Men traveled in Professor X's private jet. Since the mid-70s, the X-Men have been flying around in a jet that is capable of vertical takeoff and landing. The plane resembles a Lockheed SR-71 and the plane has been destroyed time and time again but is always rebuilt, obtaining new weapons and engines that make it travel at hypersonic speeds, plus a holographic camouflage. A variation of the Blackbird features a windshield that can amplify optic blasts.

7 Batman's Batpod

Collider

This is about the only thing I haven't spoken extensively about in Batman's arsenal. The Batpod is an escape route from a damaged Tumbler. The Batpod has machine guns mounted in the front, as well as grappling hooks that can be used in such an escape. Batman may be out in the open on this motorcycle, but least he's not stuck in the Tumbler after getting bombarded by rocket-fire. The Batpod may not be nearly as tough as the Tumbler, but it serves as the ultimate last ditch effort.
