The Porsche 550 Spyder is an interesting exclusive car, and every one of them has a history. While one of them features a gold engine, the other just stays in a container for 35 years. Just a week ago, an incredible find was made in the United States. In one of the households in Southern California, they accidentally stumbled upon a 66-year-old Porsche 550 Spyder.

This is one of the rarest models of the brand. Only 90 pieces of this model were released. The unique sports car was found by Bobby Green, the owner of the Old Crow Speed Shop, which specializes in vintage motorcycles. He shared his story on Facebook.

Initially, Bob Green was invited to Southern California to evaluate a private collection of vintage bikes, whose owner recently passed away. During his inspection, Green came across a cargo container that contained a real miracle—a bright red Porsche 550 Spyder in impeccable condition. Bobby described this find as follows: "Well, that’s like finding a unicorn with bigfoot riding it."

The History Of The Legendary Car

The history of this 550 Spyder was discovered with the help of Green's friend Blue Nelson, who is a great connoisseur of rare vehicles. By the chassis number (0069), he found out that the car was produced in 1955.

The two-seater sports car was 69 in the series. For three years of production, the German company has assembled only 90 copies of the Porsche 550 Spyder. The first owner of the Porsche had used the car in amateur racing. In 1963, a rare model was purchased by a man named Les Gunnerson for two thousand dollars.

Immediately after the purchase, Gunnerson began restoring the car. The work was completed only in the '80s. However, by that time, the owner of the sports car became interested in collecting motorcycles and hid the vintage Porsche in a cargo container.

It turned out that the rarest sports car is almost completely original. And despite the long downtime, the Porsche 550 Spyder is in excellent condition. There is no rust at all on the body of the sports car. And, most importantly, under the hood, it has its own 1.5-liter engine with the number 0075.

According to Bob, the exclusive sports car has already acquired a new owner. The collector did not disclose the purchase price, but as far as can be judged from the auction prices, the Porsche 550 Spyder is worth millions of dollars.
