The BMW i4 concept was supposed to make its debut at the 2020 Geneva Motor Show in early March. Sadly, COVID-19 forced the cancellation of the event, forcing the German automaker to reveal the fully-electric concept vehicle online. Only a few photos made it out of to the public, but now Supercar Blondie has gained access to the vehicle and published a video revealing everything one needs to know about the car.
What The Shoot Unveiled
Alex Hirschi, aka Supercar Blondie, headed to BMW headquarters in Munich, Germany to make the video. Among the little known facts that the Australian auto host revealed was that famed composer Hans Zimmer developed the Concept i4’s faux sounds to make it sound like an internal combustion engine car. That’s because the electric vehicle doesn’t actually make any noise on its own.
Under The Hood
BMW may have already revealed what is under the hood of the i4 Concept, but that doesn’t make us any less impressed. It has a single electric motor that pumps out 530 horsepower and is coupled to an 80 kWh battery. That allows the car to go from 0 to 62 mph in under four seconds. Add on the EPA estimated range of 270 miles and a WLTP range of 373 miles, and the i4 EV looks to be one of the more impressive EV concepts out there.
Let’s Get Physical
The i4 EV features a massive kidney grille, which BMW is calling the “intelligence panel,” since it houses a variety of the vehicle’s sensors. While it’s unlikely that the Concept’s all glass roof will make it to production, it’s pretty cool at this point. Inside, a large vertically stacked curved screen a touchscreen infotainment system, along with the instrument cluster. Check out Super Blondie's review above.
