Supercar Blondie is no stranger to the ultra-upscale Bugatti line, having profiled the speedy Chiron Pur Sport and the production-stalled Atlantic on previous episodes of her YouTube channel. So it only stands to reason that the Dubai-based supercar maven also known as Alexandra Hirschi was totally stoked when an anonymous fan offered her a chance to drive the Bugatti's recently-launched and much-lauded Divo. That's no small gesture, considering the Divo is a ride worth $8 million and only one of 40 cars that ever rolled out of the automaker's factory.

Many Design Changes Between The Chiron And Divo

But even if you have $8 million to burn, Blondie advises you that affordability isn't going to get you behind the wheel of a Divo. You have to already be familiar with the Bugatti roster before they'll even pay attention to you.

"You cannot just call Bugatti up and be like, 'Hey, man, I love the Divo; can I have one?'" noted Hirschi. "No, it doesn't work like that. They're going to ask you 'Do you already have a Chiron?' And if you haven't bought the $3-million Chiron, that's it. They're hanging up."

So, what does an extra $5 million get you? Well, a lot of them are cosmetic, such as squintier-looking headlights that stretch to the side panels and taillights resembling diskettes sticking out of an antiquated computer. Then there's the white atop the blue paint job to make the Divo look more like a road hugger. And six exhaust pipes that occupy the rear including two facing the ground to increase downforce on the car when at maximum speed.

But what gets Hirschi salivating is the eight-liter, quadruple-turbocharged W16 engine that cranks out 1,500 horsepower. "You can't imagine what this thing feels like to drive!" exclaims Hirschi. "It is so smooth and there's so much power, I just can't even... explain it to you!"

But before she even starts the thing up, she dedicates a few moments to the carbon-fiber interior, including a pattern of bird stitching on the side doors. There's also a swooping middle panel that houses the stick shift and four knobs that control features from the radio to air conditioning. The big "wow factor" in this two-seater, though, is the C-shaped divider between the driver and passenger that lights up when needed.

This Divo Has The Potential To Hit 319 MPH

But once the Divo gets going, Hirschi is over the moon with how fast it starts up, springing from 0-100 km (62 miles) in 2.4 seconds. When she floors the supercar—which is limited to 236 mph, but can be augmented to hit 310 mph—the auto influencer is rendered almost speechless.

"You have 1,500 horsepower to play around with," she says wistfully. "That is the kind of thing you want to do with these cars: actually go and test what that feels like." If that's what an $8-million experience feels like, Bugatti won't have a problem unloading all 40 of its Divos.
