The fact that they are not affordable to everyone makes them interesting to own. It is, therefore, surprising that this kind of cars could be forgotten for one reason or the other. However, there are some of these cars that will barely meet the standards. Though the cars were ranked in the supercars list, the audience didn`t give much attention. At times, the automakers can be the reason why these cars couldn`t receive much glory. In their effort to be innovative, sometimes the carmakers run into financial crisis that limits their marketing efforts.

Additionally, this is not the only reason why some of the supercars were forgotten. Taste is also a critical aspect and plays a significant role as well. With the rise of supercar companies everyday also come to play when their competitors are pushed aside. These companies try to outdo each other on a daily basis either coming up with a sleeker design or faster engines. Some of the cars in today’s market were only an imagination five years ago.

This car is recognized for its gull wing doors and space-frame construction. The brains behind this supercar, Eberhard Schulz had previously worked for Mercedes. It is, therefore clear where the inspiration of the elegant look came from.

On the other hand, the car was fitted with 5.0 and 6.0l engines with the later giving out up to 400hp.

This proves that the car was not only good to look at but fun to ride as well. Before the end of production, about thirty of these cars had been released to the market. It took about 5 seconds to hit form 0-60 and came with a top speed of 170mph.

19 Vector W8

The car was introduced in the supercar limelight in 1990. Vector Automotive Corporation intentions when producing this car was to give the best in the market. Under the hood, this car had a 6.5l engine that could produce 625 of horsepower. Additionally, the turbocharged V8 engine added more power with top speeds of up to 240mph. After its production, the company spent a huge budget on marketing which created financial constraints. Later, the company went under with only 22 of the W8 being sold. Though it never made it big in the automotive industry, the car was featured in movies and in the “Need for Speed” game.

18 Venturi 400 GT

Venturi 400Gt will be remembered in history as the first car to standardize carbon brakes. Regarding performance, the car is one of the best cars made in France. The chassis and the body were made from Venturi while other parts were obtained from different automakers. Its 3.0l, V6 engine was adopted from Peugeot.

The twin-turbocharged engine could produce 400hp with the racing version giving out up to 600hp.

It takes 4.6 seconds from 0-60 and recorded 180mph as its top speed. At the time of manufacture, the car was regarded as the fastest in the market. The company shut down due to financial constraint and probably the reason why the car was forgotten.

17 Lamborghini Jalpa

The Lamborghini Jalpa may not be as famous as its predecessor, the Countach. The Jalpa came about as an intention for Lamborghini to produce more affordable supercars. The Jalpa was, therefore, easier to drive, easily traceable on traffic, and with a better visibility. Under the hood, the car was fitted with a 3.5l V8 engine with a 255hp. It took slightly longer time from 0-60 of about 6 seconds than most celebrated supercars. It recorded a top speed of 145mph despite being a lightweight. Production of this car stopped soon after Chrysler acquired the company but remains second-best seller for Lamborghini.

16 Cizeta-Moroder V16T

This car prides in having among the best brains in the automotive industry behind its production. A group of engineers led by Claudio Zampoli alongside Marcello Gandini the Lamborghini designer, came together to produce this car. The V16 engine was its talking point made by transversely joining two V8 crank units. The 6.0l engine produced 560hp which is a great performance for a supercar.

It takes just 4 seconds to go from from 0-60 with a top speed of 200 mph or more.

If the vision of the Cizeta V16 was carried to the end, it would have been the next big thing in the world of supercars.

15 Zender Vision 3

The maker of the car Hans-Albert Zender a German automaker had six visions of the car. The first vision debuted in 1993, with the second coming in three years later. The Vision 3 was introduced during the 1986 motor show in Geneva. The car was quite a performer with the ability to deliver 300hp at 5,000Rpm. It takes 6 seconds from 0-60 which is probably not very impressive for a supercar but ok considering the period of its production. The power was controlled by the 5-speed manual gear and can record a top speed of 175mph. As for the price, it is not within the average person`s budget.

14 Aixam Mega Track

The Axiam Mega Track was in production from 1993 to 1995 which saw just five units released. However, this is no excuse for underperformance; in fact, this car delivers more than its looks can tell. The car was made by a French automaker best known for production of electric cars.

It is a mid-engine, which is actually a V12 adopted from Mercedes.

It delivers up to 400hp, and a top speed of 160mph. Subsequently, it had an adjustable suspension that range between 8 and 13 inches. The car is flexible and can be used for off-road adventures, rallying and other ways as the owner may wish.

13 Iso Rivolta Grifo 90

Though just 12 units of this car were made, the Iso 90 was intended to be a great model. The design was inspired by the supercar looks of the 90s and was designed by Marcello Gandini. Autoveicoli S.P.A Company was responsible for the production of the Iso Grifo GT car. When Piero Rivolta thought of spicing up the market with a new model of the Iso, he asked Dallar for a chassis and powertrain. Production was scheduled to start from 1997 but due to some financial problems, this never happened. Hence, this 490hp beast never got to see its full potential.

12 TVR Speed 12

The TVR Speed 12 is the ideal supercar with its lightweight chassis, the car is probably one of the fastest ever made. Notwithstanding its sleek design, the car could shoot up to the 60th mark in less than 3 seconds. Under the hood is a 7.7l, V12 engine which delivers around 1,000hp and a top speed of over 200mph.

The car was definitely made for speed and racing, ironically one of the reasons that led to the end of its production.

According to the management, this car was going to be too dangerous for the roads due its high speed.

11 Jaguar XJR-15

Jaguar is well known in the auto market for their elegant cars. During the time of production of this car, Jaguar had a long standing in endurance championships. In fact, this model of the XJR-15 was as a means of celebration for the victory in Le Mans. Hence, the car was made with a racing perspective in mind and its design, edgy looks, and performance confirms it. The XJR-15 could fire up from 0-60 in just 3.2 seconds with a 450hp. Conversely, throughout their production cycle that ended in 1992, Jaguar sold 53 units despite the high price of $1 Million.

10 Nissan R390 GT1

Tough this was a great version of the Nissan ever made, the R390 GT1 was never meant for the roads. The automakers only produced two units of the car and took part in the 1997/98 races. Despite its powerful ability, the car was never meant for sale and has one of the units made stored in the manufacturer’s warehouse. Under the hood is a 3.5l, V8 twin-turbocharged engine that produces 550hp. It has a top speed of 220mph and takes mere 3.2 seconds to spring from 0-60 miles. It is actually the fastest Nissan ever made and a great supercar that ought not to have been forgotten.

If you think this car looks sporty, then that would be because of Guglielmo Bellasi a Formula one designer who also took part in the modelling of this car. In fact, the car was designed with a racing concept in mind to fulfill the request of a Georgian businessman. The businessman wanted to make a racing car out of the Centenaire.

The car tried to compete in Le Mans but was unsuccessful.

The MCA was fitted with a Lamborghini V12 engine but after Aixam Mega acquired the project, this was changed to a 6.0l, 495hp Mercedes-Benz engine. Consequently, the latter company also tried the Le Mans but was also unsuccessful.

8 Lotec Sirius

The car comes with great power having adopted a Mercedes-Benz 6.0l engine. Its twin-turbochargers enable the car to produce up to 850hp. The Lotec Company dates back to 1962 when it was founded. The Sirius model was established in 2004 and continues in production to date with current versions able to deliver 1,000hp. The Lotec Sirius is up to task in terms of performance and can easily compete with modern supercars. It also has a top speed of 249mph which is fairly good for a modern supercar. However, the company is reluctant on marketing which has made this car obscure in the world of supercars.

7 Dome Zero

The Dome Zero is outstanding from its menacing appearance, low lying and lightweight. Tough it only has 912kg to it, the produces only 143hp. The 2.8l, V8 engine is placed at the middle and manages its transmission from its 5-speed manual gearbox. The design also comprises of gull wing doors and retractable headlights.

The body of the Dome Zero is made from a steel monocoque chassis and fiberglass reinforced plastic.

The Japanese company was dedicated to deliver an expensive racing car with the Dome Zero. Production of this model ended in 1986 from 1976 but was not clear how many units of the car were made.

6 BMW 850CSi

The 850CSi follows in the sleek footsteps of the BMWs but was never produced in large numbers like the rest. From its 5.6l V12 engine, the BMW 50CSi can deliver 375hp. Its technological prowess, unique shape, and transmission six-speed manual makes it a classic car. The engine of the 850CSi was also used as the basis for the V12 in McLaren F1.

5 Kodiak F1

The Kodiak F1 was Speed&Sport`s pilot project of a supercar. The company is specializes in the mechanism of the roofs for convertible cars. The company collaborated with the University of Munich to produce this car in 1993. It consisted of a tubular frame that was embraced for the body and a chassis made of composite material. It adopted its engine from the Chevrolet Corvette which was a 5.7l with up to 320hp. It also came with a 5-speed gearbox, Pirelli tyres, and Koni Shock absorbers. Even with all these qualities, it was still hard to sell the Kodiak F1; this made the manufacturer to change the engine to a Mercedes-Benz V8 that gave 38hp.

1 Bugatti EB110SS

Bugatti known to make great supercars but the EB110SS seems like a forgotten lot. However, this does not mean that it comes with emptiness or can be discredited. The car comes with four turbochargers that empower its 3.5l 12-cylinder engine. It was able to give 603hp at a time when the best supercars produced 400hp. Moreover, the turbochargers and its overwhelming power pushed it to record a top speed of 345km/h. The car is low lying like any other Bugatti with a compressed roof. It has an edgy front, and stylish headlights make it stand out from other supercars in the game.
