The 997.1 is the second generation of the Porsche 911 GT3. It was unveiled in February 2006 and is now often known by its 997.1 GT3 titles. It was powered by a flat-six, 3.6-liter engine and featured clever zero-lift aerodynamics. It was an incredibly well balanced, track-oriented Porsche. So where does it stack up in the world of cars, and Porsches? Well, Rob Ferretti of VINVwiki thinks it stacks up quite high. In fact, he is of the mindset that it is the greatest car ever made!

Refinement Perfected

Rob says the problem with Porsche is that they have simply been refining the same car for fifty-plus years. But equally, he says that is also what makes it so good.  He declares the 997 GT3 will perhaps go down as one of the best driver's cars in the world, because you simply can’t have a bad experience behind the wheel of one of these cars.

Rob says that it was one of the biggest regrets in his life, selling his previous one. But he is now determined to own one again and have that car back in its life. It was easy to maintain, could take any aggressive gear change, or speed that he would take it up to. It was perfection in his eyes. Rob believes it is at the pinnacle of what a car can do to make someone happy, and on the plus side, it looks pretty damn good too.

A Stable Value

The value is not going to skyrocket either, and with plenty available out there, Rob is going to buy one. They are driver's cars, not collectors' cars, and their value will always hold. This is why Rob is not rushing his purchase. He knows he can wait it out to find the perfect GT3. It might be boring to many of us, but you can’t deny that Porsche knows how to make a great driver's car, and if it isn’t broke, then why make something new?
